A few Sundays ago, we did lunch with our little sister Kalee. She is like part of our family. We met her through XMC (Master’s Commission). For those who don’t know what Master’s Commission is, it is a discipleship program where young people set aside 9 months of their lives to total commitment to Christ. The motto of XMC is to know God and to make Him known!!
We’ve had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with her this past year. We are so proud of her and the woman of God that she has become. She is coming to the end of her first year, so we decided to do lunch with her before the end of the program.
We decided to do lunch at Fezzo’s Seafood, Steakhouse and Oyster Bar. Fezzo’s is one of our favorite places to eat. Fezzo’s was recently voted in the Times of Acadiana’s “Best of” for 2011, the Best Cajun Restaurant & Best Seafood Platter,  two years in a row.  Definitely well deserving of the awards.
The name Fezzo’s has a very interesting story behind it. Phil Faul who is co-owner of the restaurant, his dad as a young boy loved to play with his mom’s empty wooden spool’s (used for sewing thread). His  would carry his wooden spool’s everywhere he went. In Cajun French the word for wooden spool’s is “Fezzo”. Phil Faul (the son) named the restaurant Fezzo’s in honor of his dad. I thought that this was a very interesting story.

We started with a dozen of Charbroiled Oysters. Let me just say, superb!! Kalee had a bad experience with oysters so we wanted her to try our favorite way that we love to eat our oysters. To ensure it didn’t turn her against eating oysters. Lol. She was very impressed with the dish. So this dish was a success! Lol..

I ordered the Creamy Crawfish & Tasso Pasta. The dish had angel hair pasta that was topped with crawfish and tasso prepared in a creamy sauce. Delicious. The spice level was on point. An amazing dish! I recommend this dish if you haven’t tried it before. Good stuff. The dish is also served with garlic bread.

Kalee ordered the gumbo/bisque plate which consisted of the corn and crab bisque, crawfish etouffee and chicken and sausage gumbo. She loved the food. I didn’t taste it this time, but I have in the past. A great meal for a cold or cool day. Though it wasn’t cold, it is an awesome option for a meal choice.

Brian had the Jumbo Country Fried Steak Platter with a stuffed baked potato & a salad. The Country Fried Steak is topped with a white gravy. The best! This is my husband’s absolute favorite meal. Normally he only orders this meal at Chili’s but I believe he has found his new favorite place to eat Country Fried Steak. I took a bite and I must say I was very impressed. The Country Fried Steak was seasoned well, the gravy was nice and creamy.

Pictured above is the Stuffed potato. The best stuffed potato we have had in a long time. Seasoned to perfection! An amazing side dish!
Somehow lil mama’s meal was not photographed, but she had the alfredo pasta with chicken breast. FYI there is a kids menu.
We had sweet potato fries for dessert which is pictured below and was served with cinnamon, sugar and honey. I love their sweet potato fries. They are fried perfectly, seasoned with a little salt. The cinnamon and sugar mixture alone with the honey makes for a great snack. Try it!

Fezzo’s also serves great boiled Crawfish. Every year we eat crawfish there at least 4 or 5 times during the Crawfish season. You would not be disappointed.
There is covered outdoor seating with a TV which is great for football season. For those who drink, Fezzo’s has a nice bar which also has Flat Screen TV’s for your enjoyment. The extensive menu is sure to accommodate every member in the family.
