Many of the places I blog about I find via Instagram.  We eat with our eyes first and a visually stunning picture is always a way to draw someone to your restaurant.

I have been following FM Kitchen & Bar for a few months now.  We were in the area where the restaurant is located so we decided to grab dinner with the family.

When we arrived the parking lot was already packed.  The patio area was so nice.  We decided to sit outside.

The outside area was wide opened with picnic benches on one side near cool art walls. There was a covered area with a few flat screen HDTV’s and elevated seating.

After being seated about 10 minutes I went into the restaurant and asked if our waiter or waitress could come and take our drink orders.  This was not a good start to what I was hoping would be the beginning of an amazing dining experience.

The waiter  arrived at the table and took our drink orders.  He apologized for the delay.  I asked him what mocktails the bartender could prepare.  He mentioned that there was one that they could create.

He brought the drink to the table and it didn’t have any of the ingredients he mentioned. The drink was delivered to our table and the waiter left again.  He returned several minutes later and I told him that the drink was wrong.  He was frustrated and took the drink back and returning with the correct drink.  Visually I knew this was the right drink based on the ingredients mentioned.

The mocktail was delicious once I received the correct one.  The waiter was tired being that he had been working since earlier that morning.  Which is not our fault.  If you can’t deliver quality customer service then don’t ask to work a double shift.  It’s unfair to the customers.

We ordered a few appetizers.  The FM Corn Dip included bacon, corn, cream cheese and onions.  Served with french bread.  The appetizer was creative and the flavors worked well together.  The dip needed a little salt, but other than that the dip was yummy.

In addition we ordered a few chicken wings.  The wings were over-fried.  The flavor of the wings were delicious.  I just wish that the wings were fried better.  The wings were served with celery, ranch dressing and carrots.

My daughter ordered the bowl of FM gumbo for her entree.  The gumbo included sausage, crawfish and shrimp.  The gumbo was just OK, a strong tomato flavor.  We are from Louisiana and we are use to our gumbo a certain way.  It was just OK.

I ordered the Fried Chicken Plate.  The fried chicken plate was superb.

Crispy fried chicken served with mac n cheese and green beans.  The plate is normally served with collard greens but FM was completely out of collard greens.  I loved the mac n cheese.  The pickled cucumbers was a nice addition to the plate.

My husband ordered the Texas Catfish.  The Texas Catfish is served either blackened or fried.  He ordered the cornmeal catfish with hush puppies and mac n cheese.

The catfish was fried nicely.  The mac n cheese was a hit with my son.  We loved the hush puppies with dipping sauce.  A good choice.

Overall the dining experience was OK.  The food overall was really good.  The customer service was terrible.  Granted, I understand that they had a big event earlier that day, but that’s not a good excuse for terrible customer service.

The fried chicken was the best item of the day.  My dish didn’t disappoint.

FM is a great place to go and watch the big game.  Hanging out with friends or with the kiddos. A cool environment. The patio and outdoor space is amazing. This spot will be a hit when the weather cools off.

We are hoping to go back and check out FM Kitchen and Bar again and hopefully the customer service will be better.

FM Kitchen and Bar has a lovely vibe.  The outdoor space was perfect with the kiddos.

The kiddos can sit and eat and then play a bit without interrupting anyone.  We loved the art walls, so cool.
