A few months ago, a guy I know from Louisiana messaged me about a new restaurant coming to Houston.  He grew up around the now Chef Drake Leonards.

Eunice is a newly opened restaurant located near Downtown Houston.  Executive Chef-Partner Drake Leonards brings a taste of Eunice to Houston, Texas.  Eunice is named after Leonards’ South Louisiana hometown, Eunice.

Growing up in Lafayette myself, I am very familiar with Eunice, LA.

The menu at Eunice offers a modern Cajun-Creole brasserie-style menu inspired by the flavors of Chef Leonards’ childhood.

My husband and I headed to Eunice for a lunch date.

As we approached the restaurant I loved the scenery of the big Oak trees upfront. Reminding me of the country areas of Louisiana.

Eunice offers complimentary Valet Parking for all customers.

As we arrived at the building, the restaurant had a very classy look.  The glass windows all around was amazing.

We entered the restaurant and the restaurant’s vibe was fine dining with a touch of down-home and a contemporary feel.  Though the restaurant’s decor wasn’t exactly the same throughout, it had a very cohesive look.

This restaurant was stunning.

We didn’t have reservations but thankfully there was a table available.  If you are dining, I highly recommend reservations.

My husband and I arrived right before the lunch rush.  We were seated near the window which was perfect.  My view was of the entire restaurant, I could see from every angle.

Our waiter, Scott arrived quickly.  He greeted us and offered us something to drink.  I asked for a mocktail to be created for me.

He put our drink orders in and he made a few recommendations for appetizers.

My drink arrived it was a Virgin Mojito.  The drink was simple but elegant looking.  Really good drink.

Scott arrived with some complimentary buttery herb rolls.  The herb rolls were delicious. Served pipping hot and moist.

We started with the Hearth Roasted Oysters.  The oysters were topped with shrimp, blue crab, brown butter breadcrumbs. These oysters were incredible. So delicious.

My only complaint is that I wish I had ordered more. They were so good.

We also order the Bandera Quail. Quail fried and served with a tabasco honey.  Spicy with a nice kick.  The Quail had a crispy exterior and was seasoned perfectly.  I loved that the Quail was served in a All-Clad skillet topped with thinly sliced peppers. This was an amazing dish that didn’t disappoint.

My husband decided on the Friday lunch special, Prix Fixe.  The Prix Fixe was Court-Bouillon Grand-mere with drum, crab, shrimp, oyster in a rice Court-bouillon gravy with the green scallion rice. What an amazing dish.  My husband loved the dish.  The flavors were spot on.

The dish was also served with chicken, sausage and okra gumbo with rice and potato salad.  The gumbo was perfection in a bowl.  It tasted like home.  The potato salad was delicious.  My husband is a potato salad expert and the taste blew his socks off.

Before my entree came out, I asked the bartender for a Holiday drink.  For the holiday season, they have a Harlen Holiday drink which normally consisted of Vodka, but they created a virgin version of this drink for me. It was amazing.  The drink tasted like Christmas in a mule. Really good.

I ordered the Gulf Drum. The dish consisted of a grilled drum with roasted cauliflower, brown butter and almonds with a lovely sauce. The dish was superb.

The fish was flavorful and cooked perfectly.  The elements of the dish worked perfectly together.  Offering a great balance of flavors.

Everything we had tried was amazing.  So we decided to ordered a dessert. Eunice has a few yummy choices for dessert.  We decided to try the Lemon Ice Box Cake with the Blackberry Sherbet.

Oh man!  What a great choice.  The lemon ice box cake was incredibly delicious.  The presentation of the dessert was stunning.  The blueberry sherbet was delicious.  Such a sweet finish to an amazing dining experience.

Overall, we don’t have any complaints about our experience at Eunice.  The waiter Scott was amazing.  He was knowledgeable, suggestive and so funny.  We felt right at home at Eunice.

The decor was gorgeous.

The food was absolutely incredible.  Every dish was served with great class, visually stunning and impeccable taste.  We were thoroughly satisfied with our dining experience at Eunice.

If you are looking for a spot to host a holiday party, birthday party, romantic dinner with your love or for a girl’s night out, I would highly recommend Eunice.  I promise you won’t be disappointed.

A special thank you to Brian Joubert for sending me this recommendation.
