A few weeks ago my friends and I had one of our girl’s night out. We decided to dine at Central Pizza & Bar. Central Pizza & Bar recently opened in the downtown area of Lafayette, LA.
We arrived at the restaurant and the exterior colors really popped. The restaurant had a really nice vibe. I loved the outdoor bar seating area.
There were dog bowls for those who walked downtown with their dogs. A nice touch for the locals.
The restaurant was popping when we arrived. There was a table available for me and my crew. We took a seat and began catching up.
The waitress arrived at the table and began taking our drink orders. I ordered a mocktail and the bartenders were able to deliver.
Before we ordered, I asked the waitress if it would be ok for me to check out the wood-fired oven.
I loved that I could watch as each pizza was prepared. The Pizza was then placed in the wood-fired oven.
As the pizza came out finishes were added to each pizza. Absolutely delicious.
Central Pizza & Bar had lots of amazing appetizers to choose from, we started with the Meatballs. The meatballs were made with beef, pork, veal and tomato sauce. Served on a bed of roasted garlic ricotta cheese and finished with fresh parmesan and basil.
The meatballs were prepared nicely. Great flavor. I loved the ricotta with the meatballs. An amazing dish!
We ordered the Central Dip as well. The dip was prepared with leek, bacon and parmesan. Served with pipping hot wood-fired pita. The pita and the dip together was addictive. I couldn’t stop eating this appetizer.
The Best appetizer of the night. Superb!!! The flavors married well together with the hot pita chips, wow.
We also tried the Central Wings. The wings were prepared with a calabrian chili paste with fried onions, basil and pistachios. Served with basil ranch and yogurt blue cheese dressing.
The wings were fried perfectly. A sticky wing, but packed with flavor. The dressings added an additional layer of flavor to the wings. So good.
The waitress suggested we try the Cheese Curds. Crispy cheddar curds served with roasted tomato aioli. Similar to cheese sticks but smaller pieces. The tomato aioli was really good and paired nicely with the cheese curds.
The appetizers were all delicious. We loved sharing the appetizers together.
If you dine at Central Pizza and Bar I highly recommend you order a few appetizers. The dishes didn’t disappoint. Each appetizer was big enough to share with a few friends.
We ordered the Smoke Show Pizza. The toppings included fresh mozzarella, fontina cheese with smoked chicken thighs, Rabideaux’s sausage, pineapple, banana peppers, red onions and pickled jalapeños. We added Pepperoni to this pizza. My friend is a pepperoni lover and she just had to have pepperoni.
This pizza was delicious. A nice crust with the right amount of toppings, cheesy goodness and the Jalapeños added a nice kick to the pizza. Really good.
Overall our dining experience at Central Pizza & Bar was wonderful. The place had a cool vibe and conveniently located in Downtown Lafayette.
I loved that the windows were opened and the evening was nice. The weather was perfect. The service was really good. Our waitress did a phenomenal job serving our table.
The menu items were all reasonably priced and inexpensive.
Definitely a spot that I would suggest to hang out with your friends. Not a very kid friendly restaurant but it’s a good spot for a date night or to chill with friends.
