The League Kitchen & Tavern is a lively modern restaurant that offers unique comfort foods with a very laid back environment.
A week ago my husband and I were vacationing in Austin, TX and we visited the Lakeway area where The League Kitchen & Tavern is located.
We were seated immediately and began perusing the menu. There were so many choices that jumped out at us.
We started with the Bacon Mac & Cheese. The Mac & Cheese was presented nicely in a mini cast iron skillet. The dish was made with Smoked Gouda, American cheese & Bleu cheese.
The Mac & Cheese was creamy, cheesy and packed with flavor. Superb!
My husband ordered the Chicken Fried Pork Chop. A fried, golden brown pork chop on the bone on a bed of Yukon Mashed potatoes and a jalapeno white gravy.
This dish defines Comfort Food at it’s best! Oh my word, delicious. The pork chop was well seasoned, tender and fried a crispy golden brown.
The mashed potatoes were smooth and buttery. Topped with a tasty jalapeno gravy. The white gravy had a subtle kick that added the right balance of flavor to complete a simple but amazing dish.
I ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese pasta dish. A Pork and Beef Ragu with Mascarpone & Parmesan cheese. Finished with truffle oil and a poached egg.
Absolutely incredible dish. The Bolognese was absolutely amazing. A great mixture of pork and beef with herbs and spices.
I loved the Truffle oil and poached egg on top. Incredible dish.
Since it was our first time dining at The League, we were given a free dessert. We took the dessert to go, because we couldn’t eat anymore.
The League Kitchen & Tavern knocked our socks off. We sure didn’t expect the flavors and complex dishes from this place. The food was superb. The service was incredible. Conveniently located near the Lakeway Resort & Spa. A great option if you want to venture away from the Resort.
I will share more about the Lakeway Resort & Spa in a future blog post.
