A few weeks ago, my husband and I were passing through Houston, TX while heading to Austin, TX. We stopped to take care of a few things in Houston and decided to grab lunch before continuing our journey.
We ran across Bangkok Bistro. Bangkok Bistro is a Thai inspired restaurant serving up Thai food with unique spices and herbs that is rich in taste and healthy. Thai food that is contributing to the diverse culinary culture of Houston, TX.
My husband and I arrived at Bangkok Bistro after the lunch rush. We were seated immediately and chatted a bit with the waitress before ordering our food.
She was very informative and helpful in choosing our menu options.
We started with the Pork steamed dumplings. The Dumplings were filled with pork. The dumplings though they were very tasty, I felt that the dumplings could have been sealed better. Some of the dumplings arrived at the table split.
My husband ordered the Chicken and Shrimp Delight. This dish was a combination of Chicken, Shrimp and pineapples on skewers that were grilled. Served with a stir fried brown rice, asparagus, carrots, onions and cucumbers on the side.
I loved that we could see the grill marks on the chicken, shrimp and pineapples. The rice was pretty good. Needed a little salt but we added some soy sauce and it was perfect. The veggies still had a little crunch which was perfect and not mushy. Overall a good dish.
I ordered the Basil Snapper. The basil snapper was a stir fried red snapper with garlic herb, served with mushrooms, red and green bell peppers and steamed white rice. Topped with crispy basil leaves. The snapper was well seasoned with a nice kick. This dish was colorful, vibrant and very flavorful. The fish was nicely prepared. The crispy basil leaves added a nice presentation to this dish. An incredible dish.
The Thai food was authentic and flavorful. We are definitely adding this spot to our list of places to return when we are in Houston.
Overall we enjoyed our dining experience at Bangkok Bistro. The service was good, though the restaurant wasn’t busy at the time we dined. The food was served pipping hot. Besides the minor mishap with the dumpling, everything else was really good.
