It’s hard to believe that my daughter is going to 8th grade. It’s crazy to think how fast time is moving.
On the last day of school, she and I headed out for a celebratory lunch. Baby girl loves Italian food, so I decided to take her to Mia Bella Trattoria.
Mia Bella Trattoria is located in Vintage Park. The name means My Beautiful Small Italian Restaurant.
We arrived at lunch time.
As we entered, the restaurant had a very classy decor. We waited about 3 minutes to be seated. The lady saw us walk in and didn’t even acknowledge us.
She finally approached us and asked for how many. As a hostess she wasn’t friendly and didn’t look like she liked her job.
But we didn’t let it bother us, we were seated and waited for the waitress. She arrived to take our drink orders.
A young lady stopped by the table with some fresh bread and olive oil. This bread was superb. The best bread I’ve ever eaten at an Italian restaurant. Superb.
We tried their house made Fresh Lemonade. It was a little sour we added some sugar and it was great.
But what was interesting was that the second one we received was perfect. It didn’t need any sugar. Consistency is important in restaurants.
Our waitress arrived to take our order, we started with the Crispy Calamari. The calamari was fried perfectly. Crispy, golden brown. The calamari needed salt. After they fried the calamari the chef should have hit it with some salt and pepper. The dish would have been perfect.
My daughter is a big fan of Lasagna. She decided to order the Seafood Lasagna. The lasagna was layered with seafood, mushrooms and a three cheese blend. Topped with a lobster madeira sauce with sauteed spinach and a jumbo shrimp in a clam shell.
The food looked delicious. Loved the plate the lasagna was served on a nice plate. But the plate was too big for the size of the lasagna. The lasagna was lost in the plate. Now this is a presentation observation.
The lasagna was really good. But my daughter didn’t like the madeira sauce at first. It took her a minute to adjust to the flavor of the sauce. But overall it was a good dish.
I ordered the Jalapeno Cilantro Fettuccine Scampi. Presentation wise, the plate was a disappointment. Looked like the ingredients were just thrown in a bowl.
The dish didn’t include a lot of sauce, so it should have been served in a plate. So you can see the beautiful green pasta.
The big pile of what looked like arugula didn’t make sense. The dish wasn’t spicy so I am not sure where the jalapeno was factored into this dish.
The dish itself was flavorful and pretty good.
One thing we observed is that our table wasn’t offered fresh cheese and crushed pepper. Why?
Overall the food was decent. I wouldn’t say it was the best Italian food we’ve ever eaten. For the price, the food and dining experience didn’t meet our expectation. The waitress wasn’t friendly. She always seemed like she was in a rush when she came to our table.
I pride myself on giving my readers the truth about my experiences whether I pay or I am hosted. This blog is no different.
The restaurant was beautiful and is very nice. But the service, the quality and presentation of the dishes need some help. Everyone should feel welcome when they dine at an establishment not feel like they aren’t welcomed. I can expound on what I think was the issue but I will let it go.
