One Sunday after church we decided that we wanted Brunch, but we wanted to try a new place, so we went to Acme Taco and Burger. Acme Taco and Burger recently opened a new location on Johnston Street. Though Acme has the new spot, they are not new to the restaurant scene. I have been a fan of Acme Taco as well as Acme Burger.

The decision to combine both locations into one was definitely a wise choice. I was anticipating checking out the new menu and seeing the new restaurant.

We arrived right when the restaurant opened which was 11:00 am. The new location looked great. Many different design styles all combined into one.The feel of the restaurant was an open feel, family friendly atmosphere.

The waitresss came with Chips and Salsa. The salsa was really good. Fresh ingredients, nice amount of heat and the chips were fresh as well. Baby girl really enjoyed the salsa.

Chips and Queso is one of my favorite appetizers. The queso was made with melted pepper jack cheese and fresh Mexican herbs. The queso wass delivered to our table on Fire. Sweet idea to bring the queso to the table flaming. The queso was spicy and absolutely delicious.

Baby girl ordered the kids Chicken and Cheese Quesedilla. Shredded Chicken and Cheddar Cheese with fries. The Quesedilla was good but the fries were overcooked. I think the presentation of the dish was lacking.

We ordered Mac N Cheese for baby boy. The Mac n Cheese was incredible. Creamy and cheesy with incredible flavor and garnished with green onions. So good.

I ordered the Chicken and Waffles. The Chicken and Waffles consisted of buttermilk chicken tenders with pieces of bacon and a citrus and rosemary syrup. Garnished with Rosemary and green onions.

Chicken and Waffles is one of my favorite dishes. This version didn’t wow me. Now I will say there were some elements of the dish that I really liked. The waffle, syrup and chicken worked well. The dish had too much bacon. I know some might say how can you have too much bacon, but the bacon was not supposed to be the star. Instead it was overpowering the entire dish. The syrup was very tasty and worked well with the chicken and the waffles.

My husband ordered the Steak and Egg Taco. The tacos consisted of scrambled eggs, flank steak, crispy hash browns and garnished with cilantro and onions. Served with brick salsa and borracho beans.

The hubby enjoyed his dish. The salsa on the side was a good choice which allowed him to add what he needed. Good stuff.

Overall the dishes were pretty good. I have to be honest, I wasn’t blown away by anything we ate that day. Which was a bit disappointing because I have been a fan of Acme taco and Acme burger.

I will say, I went back a few weeks later with some friends and tried the regular menu and the food was on point and the service was incredible!

So maybe it was just the brunch menu.

The customer service that Sunday was lacking. The lady forgot to bring us utensils, plates and napkins. We had to ask for those items. Maybe it was because we were her first customers of the day, but as time went on she begin to get into her groove.
