The family & I went to lunch at Red Robin recently. We have been planning our visit for a while now but our schedule has been crazy lately.  We finally made our way to try out the new restaurant.

The restaurant came out really nice. The exterior was colorful with stripes and a strong red color presence. A really nice look.

We walked into the restaurant and were greeted by two young ladies who seated us immediately.

As we were seated, there was a digital kiosk on the table. I am a tech girl, a plus in my eyes. Their digital kiosk was called a ziosk.

Baby girl and I immediately started checking out the digital menu. We were given regular menus as well. The waitress arrived at the table within a few minutes. She took our drink orders and asked us if we needed help with the ziosk. We were already in the process of ordering a few appetizers.

Our drinks arrived at the table. I ordered the  Freckled Lemonade. The lemonade was served in a really cool glass. I liked the presentation of the drink. Fruity drinks are always a plus with me.

The hubby ordered the Very Berry Raspberry Limeade. A raspberry and lime flavored drink with a touch of sprite. Pretty good.

We ordered our appetizers and waited for the appetizers to come out. Baby girl realized that you could play games on the kiosk, so she found a game that we could play as a family. So much fun.

Our first appetizer was the Red Tavern Fries. Steak fries smothered in melted american cheese, thousand island dressing, bacon bits and parsley.  The fries were so good. We loved the loaded fries. The thousand island added a nice twist to the fries.

We also ordered the broccoli bites. The broccoli bites were fried and served with a jalapeno dipping sauce. The broccoli bites came out first with no dipping sauce. We waited 5 minutes and the sauce never made it to the table. The waitress took it upon herself to give us ranch until they were done mixing the jalapeno ranch.

The jalapeno ranch was good but we were halfway through the broccoli bites. The bites were just ok, nothing special. Not the best appetizer.

One thing that I liked was that Red Robin offered appetizers in a variety of price points. Which allows everyone the opportunity to enjoy an appetizer within their budget. A nice touch.

After eating our appetizers, we noticed that there was a back section that some of the kids in the restaurant kept visiting. Baby girl and I went over and checked it out. While I was walking to the section, I noticed that there were legos of food items in one corner, a milkshake, a burger and fries. Cute.

In the back section was boards with word puzzle games. We grabbed a board, some chalk and worked on it at the table.

Red Robin was a very kid friendly restaurant. I loved that, because we dine out often with our kids.

We moved on to ordering our entrees. Red Robin had many options to choose from for the kids. For Z-man we ordered the grilled chicken stickens with the freckled fruit salad. The chicken was cooked nicely. The presentation of the fruit wasn’t very pretty and the fruit didn’t look fresh. Z-man is a fruit eater, but he wasn’t fan of the fruit.

Baby girl went with the M.V. Pizza with mandarin. This was a pepperoni pizza. She enjoyed the pizza and the her fruit was just the way she likes it.

The hubby ordered the Southern Charm Burger. A black angus patty  that was glazed with brown sugar.  Topped with candied bacon, a honey BBQ sauce, sharp cheddar, caramelized onions and mayo on a toasted ciabatta bun.

A really good burger that was prepared nicely with well-balanced flavors. The presentation of the burger could use some help. But it was a good burger.

I ordered the Ensenada Chicken Platter. The chicken platter included two fire-grilled chicken breasts that was basted with authentic Mexican seasonings, topped with fresh salsa and creamy salsa-ranch and served with a side salad.

The chicken was prepared nicely. Grilled to perfection. The right amount of spice. The creamy salsa ranch was delicious. The dish should have been served with extra salsa ranch because the side salad didn’t have any dressing.

We didn’t try dessert,  but I am certainly looking forward to going back and try their Towering Doh Rings, Freckled Lemonade Cake and  Chocolate Fruffles.

Red Robin offers a variety of menu items. Salads, Sandwiches, Burgers, Soup, etc. There was something on the menu for everyone.

Overall Red Robin was a nice family friendly environment. There were a few kinks that needed to be worked out in the kitchen, but overall our experience was really nice. The food choices we made were good. There was room for improvement, but they are a new restaurant so hopefully it will get better with time.

We loved that the bar area was separate from the dining room. The restaurant was bright and colorful throughout. The pops of red added a nice look to the restaurant.

Before leaving the kiddos were given a balloon to go. They really enjoyed their time at the restaurant and we are looking forward to going back for another chilled out night.
