As a food blogger/food writer, I get the pleasure of trying many of the restaurants locally. There are very few of the local restaurants in Lafayette that I haven’t dined at yet. Recently, we dined at Pour Restaurant & Bar to celebrate my friend Caroline’s and my birthday.
Our friends are always so kind to celebrate our birthday’s with us. My friend Caroline chose Pour Restaurant and Bar for us to celebrate.
Pour Restaurant and Bar is located in the River Ranch subdivision. Serving tasty & quick entrees, savory bites with a sophisticated atmosphere and handcrafted cocktails.
We arrived at the restaurant and were seated immediately in the party room. The party room wasn’t large, but it was a nice open space and perfect for us by allowing privacy but also maintaining a connection to the restaurant.
Our waiter arrived at the table to take our drink orders. I ordered a mocktail that the bartender created for me.
It was a simple mocktail but he did a good job with it.
The ladies began arriving and we perused the menu as we visited and started to get caught up with life.
For an appetizer, I ordered the Chimichurri Fries, fries tossed in a house-made Chimichurri sauce and served with ketchup.
The fries were aromatic, the aroma was amazing as he arrived at the table. The chimichurri sauce was delicious on the skinny fries. A good shareable option my friends and I.
Soon after, the entrees began arriving at the table.
My friend Tara ordered the Beet Salad. Fresh pickled beets with mixed greens, goat cheese and pecans tossed, in a honey balsamic vinaigrette. The salad was gorgeous. I didn’t taste the salad but it was beautiful. A few of my friends tried the salad and couldn’t stop talking about how good it was.
My friend Jeanne ordered the Fish Tacos. The Mahi Mahi Tacos consisted of blackened Mahi Mahi, shredded Napa cabbage, pico, avocado and cilantro lime sour cream and served with sweet potato fries. She enjoyed her fish tacos.
One of my other friends, Holly ordered the Shrimp Tacos. Fried Louisiana shrimp with lettuce, pico and a spicy aioli. The tacos looked like a version of the bang bang shrimp. A good choice indeed.
Caroline order the Roasted Chicken. This dish came highly recommended by our waiter. It consisted of molasses brined Chicken with tasso and butternut squash hash. The dish was simple in presentation but was quite tasty.
The chicken was prepared perfectly. The butternut squash was flavorful.
My friend Julie tried the Filet Mignon. The Filet Mignon was grilled to her liking and served with grilled asparagus and crispy fingerling potatoes, topped with an herb compound butter. Instead of the potatoes, she ordered the grilled squash. She ordered the steak with herb butter on the side. A nice portion size and was perfect since she is very health conscious.
I ordered the BBQ Shrimp and Grits. Since I am leaving the Louisiana area, I have been enjoying some of my favorite Louisiana dishes. This dish sure didn’t disappoint.
The shrimp was sautéed in a spicy Creole butter served on creamy gouda grits. Not the traditional BBQ Shrimp and Grits, but a good twist on this dish. The dish was well seasoned. The consistency of the grits were a little thicker than normal, but it was superb! A really good choice for me.
Overall our dining experience was pleasant. The restaurant was classy with a New Orleans style vibe. I loved the outdoor seating area. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and he gave great suggestions.
