Fridays have become my husband and I’s Lunch day date. We don’t have family here or a babysitter so we have to become creative when finding time to spend together just the two of us.
In marriage, consistent date nights or day dates are important. Time together to connect away from the kids are critical to the success of any marriage. My husband and I try to make sure that this is a priority.
We ventured out to La Centerra in Cinco Ranch. This area has been our go to a lot lately. It’s close to home and there is so much to do in the area.
Since moving to Houston, we have been on the hunt for some really good Sushi. We’ve tried a few places but they were just ok. Back in Louisiana we had a few go to Restaurants we would go to if we wanted sushi.
Well our hunt is officially over, we found a sushi place that we absolutely love. As I mentioned we have been in the LaCenterra a lot but never saw, Tobiuo Sushi until last week.
Tobiuo Sushi is a Japanese Restaurant that serves Sushi, Noodle Dishes, Desserts, Cold dishes and much more. Their sushi rolls are elevated sushi that is served in a very welcoming environment.
Tobiuo also has a tasting menu. Hmm, I can’t wait to go back and try this. We absolutely love tasting menus.
We arrived to Tobiuo Sushi a little after the restaurant opened for their lunch service.
Due to the pandemic, we are restricting our dining to only outdoor patio dining. Tobiuo Sushi has a small patio area which was perfect.
The hostess allowed us to choose where we wanted to sit and he kindly seated us. Our waiter came right out and took our drink orders.
I asked the waiter to have the bartender create a yummy mocktail for me. Tobiuo has a Strawberry Basil mocktail on their menu. Hello, I love that they had mocktails on the menu. A plus in my eyes.
The mocktail was fruity and very tasty just like I like my mocktails. Delicious.
The menus were available online so we perused the menu and decided to start with an appetizer, Diced Shrimp Tempura.
The Diced Shrimp Tempura, this dish included diced shrimp that was battered in a tempura batter and fried. Seasoned with Japanese chili powder and garnished with micro greens. Served with a Chili Aioli.
The shrimp was fried perfectly. The Chili Aioli paired nicely with the shrimp. A nice kick, the heat was mild but really good.
We wanted to try one of the Skewers, the Pork Belly Yakitori came highly recommended by our waiter.
Pork Belly Yakitori is served on a skewer. The meat is skewered, grilled on a Robata Grill. Glazed with a house-made Yakitori sauce. Absolutely incredible.
Gorgeous pork belly with a simple, yet classy presentation and so flavorful. So glad that we tried this dish. Amazing.
Now for the real stars, the SUSHI!
The first was the Steve-O. The Steve-O is stuffed with cream cheese and crab, then tempura fried topped with a snow crab mix, chili aioli and tempura flakes. This roll was incredible. Really really delicious.
The Super Shaggy included shrimp tempura with cucumbers, topped with snow crab, a korean spiced aioli and serrano peppers. So good.
I love the heat on this one! Spicy goodness.
Both rolls were superb. The presentation of each roll was impeccable.
Overall Tobiuo Sushi exceeded our expectations. The service was top notch. The waiter was informative, he gave recommendations that were spot on based on our likes and dislikes. He was very attentive to our dining needs as well.
The food was presented excellently. Everything taste amazing. There was not one dish that we didn’t love.
Our hunt for our favorite sushi spot is over, Tobiuo Sushi just filled that void we were missing. From the service to the food they did a phenomenal job.
