One day I woke up craving Fried Fish. I really wanted Fish and Chips. Not just regular Fried Catfish, but Fish and Chips which is Cod that is battered and fried. Served with french fries or some sort of fried potatoes.

We were heading to church that day, so we decided to try and find a spot to eat after church.

My restaurant spotlight for this week is The Phoenix. The Phoenix is located in the Montrose area. The Phoenix is a neighborhood Pub with a relaxed environment.

The menu has a variety of traditional pub favorites like fish and chips, burgers, wings, bangers and salads.

I placed the order via phone. When we arrived the food was almost ready.

We decided to eat in the car. It was really cold that day so it was too cold to sit outside with the kiddos. They did have outdoor heaters.

The Phoenix has a really nice outdoor space with TV’s. 5 large projections screens & 16 LCD screens to watch your favorite sports teams. There is a covered and uncovered patio area.

Our food was nicely packaged which made it easy to eat in the vehicle.

Baby girl ordered the Irish Nachos. This dish consisted of Seasoned Waffle Fries that are topped with Cheddar Jack Cheese, chopped bacon, green onions and sour cream. She absolutely loved her dish. Yummy.

Our son ordered the Chicken fingers and fries. Three chicken tenders strips that are breaded and fried. Served with their house fries. Winner winner chicken dinner in the eyes of our son.

I ordered the Fish & Chips. The Cod fish is Ale-battered fish, fried golden brown and served with house-made fries and Phoenix’s house-made remoulade. The fish was fried a beautiful golden brown, but the batter and the fish was really greasy. The fries were fried perfectly and tasty.

My husband ordered the Fried Catfish. Southern Catfish that was fried to perfection. Well seasoned and served with fries and cocktail sauce. This dish was the best of the day. Flawless execution. Really good.

Overall the food was really good. With the exception of my greasy Cod fish, everyone else loved their dishes. I would recommend removing the fish immediately once the fish is cooked and allowing it to drain on a paper towel or a baking rack. This removes some of the excess grease. No one likes greasy fish.

The service was really good. We received our order on time. The staff was great. We will definitely add The Phoenix to our list of spots for our Sunday lunch.
