Kick your weekend off with a sweet treat from SomiSomi
A few weekends ago we were visiting a bookstore called Books Kinokuniya in Katy, TX. My daughter needed a special gift for her friend and they were one of the only places that had it locally.
The bookstore was really cool and quite unique. For a Friday afternoon the bookstore was packed.
We were able to find what we needed and headed out.
Right next door was this new spot that had recently opened called SomiSomi Soft Serve & Taiyaki is a spot serving up Korean Style Soft serve with interesting flavors and topping.
The dessert shop was cute.
I have to admit when we first walked in and perused the menu it was as if we were reading a menu in a foreign language. We weren’t familiar with some of the items on the menu.
But the young lady at the register was so helpful and patient as we made our choices. She answered whatever questions we had about the menu politely and she was very kind. She was a great help.
SomiSomi has a variety of flavors to choose from for Soft Serve like Chocolate, Strawberry, Oreo, Horchata, Macha and much more.
As well as a variety of toppings like crumbled oreos, fruity pebbles, captain crunch and sprinkles.
It’s a 3 step process that they walk you through when ordering. Don’t hesitate to ask what the flavors consist of if you aren’t sure, they will gladly help.
While we waited for our orders we watched the ladies make the Taiyaki warm fished shaped waffle and AH-Boong which is the signature goldfish waffle cone stuffed with choice of filling and soft serve.
Our son went with the UBE soft serve. The UBE flavor is similar in taste to an Asian purple yam. Our son loved it.
He topped his with sprinkles and a fresh strawberry.
Our daughter order the Chocolate soft serve topped with crumbled Oreo cookie and a macaron. Creamy texture and visually pretty.
My hubby ordered the Hojicha flavored ice cream with an AH-Boong filled with taro topped with fruity pebbles and a strawberry.
I ordered the UBE & Matcha swirl ice cream with an AH-Boong filled with custard topped fruity pebbles and strawberry.
My treat was delicious. I was a little hesitant about the matcha because it can be strong. But the UBE and Matcha swirl paired nicely together.
Overall we enjoyed our treats at SomiSomi. The spot was cute. The service was great. The treats were delicious. We would definitely visit again.
The treats weren’t overly sweet. The perfect balance.
Everyone loved their treats. No complaints from the kids at all.
