As promised, I am sharing a new restaurant review. We have been eating so good. I am excited to share this one with you. We visited this restaurant back in May for Mother’s Day weekend.
My Mother’s Day weekend was filled with lots of festivities. My husband and I stopped in for a lunch date at Whiskey Cake. Whiskey Cake is a creative restaurant that is serving up unique, farm to table dishes that are uniquely crafted. Made from scratch only menu items. Each dish is made with local ingredients.
We arrived at opening time. The restaurant had a few people already dining.
The interior of the restaurant was gorgeous. Beautifully decorated and wide-open spaces.
It was a gorgeous day so we sat outside. Whiskey Cake has a really nice outdoor space.
Our waitress arrived to take our drink orders and tell us a little about the restaurant.
He was really nice, funny and very informative.
My drink the Little Pink Drink was visually beautiful and refreshing. Made with grapefruit, pineapple, cranberry, agave, guava.
Initially the drink was a little tart and sour and lacked sweetness. But I told the guy what I needed and he returned with the drink and it was perfect.
After perusing the menu we decided to try a few small plates.
The Deviled eggs are a seasonal item that changes each month. The month of May’s deviled eggs was a corn topping with cheese, mayo, nice crunchiness on top and a little heat. The perfect bite.
The deviled eggs change from month to month.
The Fried Green Tomatoes was fried perfectly. Served with a remoulade sauce. The fried green tomatoes were delicious.
My husband ordered the Texas Redfish. This dish was gorgeous. The dish included orzo pasta, spinach, grape tomatoes, parmesan and lemon butter. Finished with beautiful sprouts. Beautifully plated. The redfish was grilled perfectly. A creative and tasty dish.
I ordered the Pork Brisket Steak. The Pork Brisket Steak dish included a roasted corn and pepper grits topped with the Pork Brisket Steak and finished with pickled tomatoes and purple onions.
The dish was ok. Seared a little too hard for my liking. Almost too charred on the exterior. Which made the meat a little dry. The corn grits were delicious. The pickled tomatoes was a nice finish to the dish. The brisket steak needed salt.
This was my least favorite dish.
We finished our lunch with their delicious Whiskey Cake dessert. This dessert is very rich and addicting. A toffee torte with bourbon anglaise, spiced pecans and homemade whipped cream. Oh my.. An incredible dessert. The sauce was superb. Worked great with the cake.
A sweet finish to a delightful lunch.
Overall our dining experience at Whiskey Cake Katy was incredible. From the service to the food, the atmosphere, everything was phenomenal. The waiter was topped notch. He was on it.
The dishes were each presented uniquely and gorgeously.
