Lamb Gyro

A few days ago I was craving Lamb Gyro. I was working on some photo edits and didn’t have time to leave to go out to eat or pick up anything. I decided to go run to the store and pick up ingredients to make it at home. This 15 minute lunch was delicious.

Ingredients:

  • Ground Lamb 16 – 32 oz (enough for 4 – 5 servings)
  • Olive Oil (1-2 tbsp)
  • Tandoori Seasoning or some sort of Mediterranean seasoning
  • White Onion (1/2,  Julienne cut)
  • Red Bell pepper (1/2, Julienne cut)
  • Yellow Bell Pepper (1/2, Julienne cut)
  • Pita Bread
  • Tzatziki dip
  • Mediterranean herb feta cheese
  • Fresh Mint
  • Salt and Pepper

Directions:

  1. Add in some olive oil to a skillet.
  2. Saute the onions and bell peppers.
  3. Season with a salt and pepper. Cook until the onions are translucent.
  4. Remove the onions and bell peppers. Set aside
  5. Add a little more olive oil to the skillet.
  6. Add in the ground lamb, saute.
  7. Season with the tandoori seasoning. Stirring occasionally. Cook until no pink.
  8. Remove, drain the grease.
  9. Add the ground lamb back to the skillet.
  10. Add back in the onions and bell peppers.
  11. Stir.
  12. Taste. Season with more Tandoori seasoning(optional).
  13. Heat the pita bread.
  14. Build the gyro.
  15. Spread some of the Tzatziki dip.
  16. Top with a good portion of the lamb, onions and bell peppers.
  17. Crumble some of the mediterranean herb feta cheese.
  18. Finish with some fresh mint.
  19. Enjoy!!
  20. Serve with french fries or yellow rice.
