Lamb Gyro
A few days ago I was craving Lamb Gyro. I was working on some photo edits and didn’t have time to leave to go out to eat or pick up anything. I decided to go run to the store and pick up ingredients to make it at home. This 15 minute lunch was delicious.
Ingredients:
- Ground Lamb 16 – 32 oz (enough for 4 – 5 servings)
- Olive Oil (1-2 tbsp)
- Tandoori Seasoning or some sort of Mediterranean seasoning
- White Onion (1/2, Julienne cut)
- Red Bell pepper (1/2, Julienne cut)
- Yellow Bell Pepper (1/2, Julienne cut)
- Pita Bread
- Tzatziki dip
- Mediterranean herb feta cheese
- Fresh Mint
- Salt and Pepper
Directions:
- Add in some olive oil to a skillet.
- Saute the onions and bell peppers.
- Season with a salt and pepper. Cook until the onions are translucent.
- Remove the onions and bell peppers. Set aside
- Add a little more olive oil to the skillet.
- Add in the ground lamb, saute.
- Season with the tandoori seasoning. Stirring occasionally. Cook until no pink.
- Remove, drain the grease.
- Add the ground lamb back to the skillet.
- Add back in the onions and bell peppers.
- Stir.
- Taste. Season with more Tandoori seasoning(optional).
- Heat the pita bread.
- Build the gyro.
- Spread some of the Tzatziki dip.
- Top with a good portion of the lamb, onions and bell peppers.
- Crumble some of the mediterranean herb feta cheese.
- Finish with some fresh mint.
- Enjoy!!
- Serve with french fries or yellow rice.
