Blue Agave is a Cajun inspired restaurant with a Mexican flair. The restaurant serves the traditional Mexican dishes Enchiladas and Fajitas as well as the not so traditional dishes like their Tilapia and Crawfish dish.

Last week my friends Crystal, Tanya and I had lunch at Blue Agave. This restaurant has been around for quite some time, but I have never dined there. My friend who suggested it was pretty surprised when she found out.

One of the first things that I absolutely loved was the nice size outdoor dining area. On the day we went, the weather was absolutely lovely. A little breezy but it was so nice.

Chips and Salsa was first up. The salsa was delicious; chunky and spicy. Loved the heat and freshness of the salsa.
My friend ordered the Tableside Guacamole. I know that a lot of the restaurants are doing table side Guacamole. I am not a big Guacamole fan but the guacamole was pretty good. It was served with a different type of chip. Not as crunchy and the chip was a little thicker.

After we had been talking and talking for 20 minutes and still hadn’t ordered we finally made a decision. I ordered the Combo Fajitas pictured below. Hot and Sizzling, included chicken and steak fajita with grilled onions and tomatoes. Very good. Seasoned well and tender. The meat wasn’t dry or overcooked.

My Fajita combo was served with Beans, rice, shredded cheese, sour cream and pickled veggies (Pictured below). It was also served with tortillas but I didn’t eat any. The beans and rice were pretty good. I add the Fajitas more like a rice, meat and beans dish. I wasn’t disappointed what so ever.

I thought to myself, why have we not come here sooner. We travel this way to get home from church. I will go on record and say it won’t be my last time here.

My friends both ordered the Chicken Taco Salad which includes an edible Taco shell filled with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, black olives, shredded cheese and sour cream piled on tender grilled chicken. The Taco Salad looked very yummy. They both thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I didn’t try the salad but I would have suggested a salsa or pico de gallo to serve with the dish.

In addition to delicious food, I had a wonderful time with 2 great ladies who are very dear to me. Life is so good when you have people to enjoy it with. So if you have a minute, enjoy lunch with people that you love.

Overall we had a great time at Blue Agave. The waiter we had was great. He was friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was wonderful.

Blue Agave is located at 3558 West Pinhook Rd, Lafayette, LA.
