Pho is something that my daughter and I eat year round. Whether it’s hot or cold, we love a good bowl of Pho. This particular day we were craving Pho. We really didn’t know of a particular one in the Houston area. While looking for a Target Store, we saw Pho X Trang. So we decided to kill two birds with one stone, errands at Target and lunch at Pho X Trang since they were in the same vicinity.
Pho X Trang’s is a Vietnamese restaurant that serves delicious Vietnamese food as well as some of the best Pho in town. Granted this is only second Vietnamese spot in the Houston area we have tried but I have eaten my share of Vietnamese food and I know good Vietnamese food when I taste it.
The first thing that I noticed as we approached the restaurant was the outdoor patio. The patio was lovely, a nice wide opened space. Perfect for when the cool weather comes through in Houston. That day it was scorching hot so we decided to enjoy the A/C.
We were greeted by a lady who told us to sit wherever we would like. Our menus were delivered to the table promptly.
The waitress took our drink order and we began to peruse the menu.
I ordered a Fresh Pineapple Slush. The slush was icy and made with fresh pineapples. A really good slush!
We ordered a few appetizers. The first to arrive was the Edamame, green soybeans seasoned with salt and spicy garlic. My husband and my son loved this appetizer. Visually the edamame appeared a bit overcooked, but they said the soybeans were cooked right.
Next was the Shrimp Spring rolls which were pretty yummy. Made with fresh ingredients and a peanut sauce. Unlike some places, the shrimp were a good size in the spring rolls. The peanut sauce was a little too thick for my liking.
After deciding on entrees we ordered the Banh Mi Thit Nuong with pork, cucumbers, radishes, jalapeno and cilantro. A flavorful Banh Mi Sandwich.
Baby girl ordered a Dumpling Pho. The Pho was delicious and packed with flavor. The Pho was served with cilantro, green onions and red onions. She loves Pho and this one was exactly how she likes it.
My husband ordered the Bun Tom Thit Nuong which is a Vermicelli Noodle bowl with Grilled Pork and Shrimp. The noodle bowl was served with a spicy, sweet and sour sauce.
Really good Vermicelli Noodle bowl. The shrimp and pork were cooked perfectly. The portion sizes were huge. Baby boy ate some of our food.
I ordered the Bun Dac Biet which was a noodle bowl prepared with noodles, grilled pork, shrimp, egg rolls, shredded pork skins. There were no pork skins but there were nuts in the dish. Which when ordered wasn’t on the menu. Thankfully I didn’t have a peanut allergy but my daughter does.
I think that they need to be sure if they are going to substitute an ingredient the customer should be notified.
But overall the dish was incredibly delicious. The spicy, sweet and sour sauce was the perfect addition to the dish. Adding an extra level of flavor.
Overall the food was delicious. There were a few minor hiccups, but for the most part everything was awesome. The service was really good. The waitress served us well.
We love Vietnamese restaurants and this one is conveniently located. Our family will definitely be returning to Pho X Trang. The restaurant is kid friendly with a family environment.
The restaurant was beautifully decorated. The water feature at the door was really nice, eye catching and welcoming.
The outdoor space is incredible. This will be a popular spot once the weather cools off.
Before leaving our waitress made me a Fresh Strawberry Slush. The strawberry slush was just so good and refreshing. Perfect for a hot Texas day!
