Rest should be a vital part of our life. Proper rest is necessary for us all. Rest refreshes, revives, inspires and also allows time and space for us to be still in the presence of God.
My husband and I decided to take a few days away from our home and kiddos to just rest and relax at a resort, the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa.
JW Marriott Resort is located in San Antonio, Texas about a 3 hour drive from our home.
We arrived at the JW Marriott a little past lunch time. The Bell men were ready and available to help us out.
Our bags were unloaded quickly and the bell man lead us inside to get checked in.
When we first arrived inside there was a rush of guest checking in as well.
After a short wait, we checked in at Guest Registration, our process was quick. A smooth check-in with a very friendly lady.
Before heading upstairs, we stopped in at the VIP Elite Members lounge for a quick snack.
Time to head upstairs to check out our room.
The room was visually stunning and smelled awesome. The temperature was perfect as we walked in.
I immediately noticed the view from the balcony. A Beautiful view.
I will share more about the room and the hotel in a future blog.
After settling in, we decided to explore the grounds of the JW Marriott Resort.
We started in the area near Crooked Branch. A very welcoming space.
We headed outside to check out the grounds of the resort.
I loved all the green space. Places for the kiddos to run around, play sports or just burn some energy.
We walked near the golf course. Such a peaceful walk.
A beautiful Golf course on a gorgeous day.
The pool and lazy river were open as well which was surprising but they had some people out and about. This must be the happening spot in the Spring and Summertime. We are definitely hoping to bring the kids back in the summer.
After a nice stroll, we headed back to the Resort for lunch.
We decided to grab lunch at Crooked Branch.
Crooked Branch is the perfect spot to enjoy a casual dining experience over delicious food and drinks.
One of my favorite things about Crooked Branch was the different dining and seating options.
From Hi-top tables to sofas to seating near the fireplace and outdoor dining there were so many options.
We decided to grab a table outside to eat and enjoy the beautiful weather.
I walked up to the bar and asked if we could sit outside and receive service. The bartender gladly said, “Absolutely”.
He sent someone outside immediately.
The gentlemen dropped off a menu for our viewing. He took the drink orders before leaving.
I ordered a Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri. Perfect for the slightly hot day.
We decided to order a few appetizers since it was late afternoon.
To start, the Cage Free Deviled Eggs. The deviled eggs were topped with lump crab and pepper relish. An interesting combination that worked well. This was our first time trying crab on top of deviled eggs. But it was delicious.
We also tried the UWE’s Sausage Sampler & House Pretzel Bread. One word, AMAZING. This dish was incredible. Thuringer, Bratwurst & Jalapeno Gouda Sausage with a Jalapeno Whiskey Syrup, pickled apples and deli mustard.
The components of this dish married so well together. From the flavorful sausages to the pickled apples that simply blew us away. The syrup paired well with the sausages. The salty and sweet was a yummy, wow factor.
The deli mustard was incredible with the pretzel bread. The Pretzel bread was soft with a touch of salt. Perfection!
What a delicious shareable dish.
Overall, our time at Crooked Branch was flawless. The waiter served us well. Crooked Branch has excellent service and they are willing to accommodate you in anyway possible.
The food was served to perfection. From the plating, the uniqueness of each dish. Everything was awesome.
We sat in the area where Crooked Branch is located several times over the course of our stay.
This unique spot was a popular spot for many families and groups for games, reading and just enjoying one another’s company.
There was one time that I wanted something warm since it was so cool outside. The waiter whipped up a hot chocolate for me. It wasn’t on the menu but he was able to accommodate my needs. I love that.
I highly recommend you dine here during your stay or if you are in the area. The food is really good.
