Mother’s Day weekend my husband and daughter took me to a new restaurant called Lillie Mae’s Cajun Kitchen in Katy, TX.
What a great dining experience. Our waitress Diamond was amazing. The feel of the restaurant was like grandma’s or an auntie’s house. You can hear chatter and laughter through out the restaurant. We arrived prior to the lunch rush. But by the time we left there was a good crowd.
I normally don’t do restaurant reviews on the blog anymore but this one was special so I decided to write one for Lillie Mae’s.
Here’s what we tried:
Creole Crab Cake Appetizer – delicious, nice plating and full of crab.
Smothered pork chops – tasty dish but plating needed help, fresh herbs to lighten it up.
Lamb Chops with candied yams and big mama’s greens with honey cornbread – delicious meal, some of my grandma’s favorites
Cajun pasta – our daughter loved it
Banana pudding – I loved their take on the pudding.
Overall the food was really good. The food was well seasoned. Every dish was satisfying. Here are the items that were the best to me candied yams and greens were superb. As someone who’s grown up eating this, I know that everyone can’t cook these dishes but they nailed it. The banana pudding was different. Love the idea of doing it with a different kind of cookie. Tasted like Biscoff banana pudding. Delicious.
My only complaint is maybe to work on plating of the dishes. But that’s just me. The food was superb. The restaurant has only been open 1 month so they are still ironing out the kinks.
The service was amazing. For you brunch lovers, go check them out they have a brunch menu and a really nice patio area.
We had a chance to speak to the owner and she was really nice. The owner shared her story about her grandma. So sweet. Made me tear up because it reminded me of my grandmother.
We will definitely go back for some fried seafood. Go check them out and be sure to tell them that Da’Stylish Foodie.
