Farmer’s Fresh Meat has been on my radar for awhile now. Since moving to Houston we haven’t had much Soul Food. When I found out about this spot I knew we had to visit.
We decided to go after church last Sunday for some good Soul Food! Soul Food Sunday at Farmer’s Fresh Market.
Before picking up our plate lunches we checked out the meat in their meat market. Farmer’s is also a Butcher Shop.
Farmer’s Fresh Meat Market has many types of meat to choose from. Both seasoned and unseasoned from Pork Chops to Chicken and Oxtails to Ground Meat and much more.
We were able to even get some Homemade Hog head cheese which my husband loves to eat. As well as some Oxtails and some Turkey Parts for a gumbo or stew.
After ordering our meat we headed to Soul Food line. Yum what shall we order?
Some of the options they had to chose from were the Oxtails, Turkey Wings, Smothered Ribs, Beef Tips, Turkey Necks, Pork Chips, Pork Feet and Meat Loaf.
My husband ordered the Baked Chicken plate with Green beans and corn. He didn’t want any rice but it also comes with rice and gravy.
I ordered the Smothered Pork Feet with rice and gravy with Mac n cheese and Yams. I know everyone can’t get down with Pork Feet, but my oh my. The pork feet was seasoned and cooked to perfection.
The side dishes didn’t disappoint at all. The Yams were the best I have ever had. Sweet and candied, tender yams.
The mac n cheese was delicious. Like grandma makes, cheesy goodness.
Baby girl ordered the Smothered Ribs with rice and gravy with Mac n cheese and red beans. The plate was massive! She barely put a dent in the plate.
We had so much food our son ate from each of our plates. Farmer’s Fresh Market doesn’t skimp on the portion sizes. Worth the cost plus some.
Farmer’s Fresh Market reminds us so much of two of our favorite places in Louisiana all in one. One being a meat market and the other a soul food place.
What a great combination of the two all in one. Love that about Farmer’s Fresh Market. One of my only complaints would be I wish that there was a spot to dine in. I know that it’s a preference for them not to have it. Which is fine. Just my observation.
But being that we had a forty-five minute drive home being able to eat before hitting the road would have been nice.
Besides that the food was phenomenal. Everything was well seasoned and very flavorful.
The service in the meat market was top notch. The guy not only packaged the food for us, he also carried our meat out for us.
Having great customer service is vital to the success of any business and they had it all.
Farmer’s Fresh Market has several locations, but we went to the one that was closest to our church near the Galleria at 8630 Cullen BLVD, Houston, TX 77051.
