I have to admit this has been a hard Summer. Why? Because I love Traveling. We travel a lot during the Summer. It’s always been our dream for our kids to see the world. So when we get a chance we venture out to new places to see new things.
Next to food writing, I love Travel writing. Exploring and visiting new places that I can share on my blog with my followers and friends is something I enjoy.
We have had to do Summer a lot differently. Lots of riding and exploring in the car. Visits to parks and places with green spaces.
My family and I have been going to places where we can socially distance for now.
This past weekend we took a ride to Galveston. Living in Texas gives us the luxury of being only a little over an hour and half away from Galveston.
It was a gorgeous day which was perfect to drive up to Galveston.
My family and I jumped in our vehicle and headed out for a day trip to Galveston.
When we arrived in Galveston we stopped in at a Seafood market, Allex’s Seafood Market.
Being from Louisiana, we love Seafood. We wanted some fresh seafood to prepare a few dishes.
We walked into Allex’s Seafood Market and there was all kinds of Fresh Seafood. Seafood options like Mahi Mahi, Flounder, Redfish, Swordfish and much more. Options that you can’t always find in the stores even if they have a Seafood market.
They also offer fresh Shrimp, Crabmeat, a variety of frozen seafood options like Hushpuppies, soft shell Crab and much more.
Not just fresh Seafood but all the seasoning, sauces, batter options you need for a Seafood Boil, a Fish or Shrimp boil or whatever seafood dish.
We picked up several options that we will prepare later and share in an upcoming post. Including an Octopus, I can’t wait to share this dish with my followers and readers.
Allex’s is located right off of Seawall. Perfect location, right near many of the Beach houses and rentals.
Allex’s Seafood Market is located at 13730 Termini-San Luis Pass Rd, Galveston, TX 77554. For more information on Allex’s Seafood Market visit https://allexseafood.business.site/website/allexseafood/
After we stored our purchases in our Ice Chest, we headed back towards to the beach area. We stopped with the kiddos to look at the beach and water.
It was a nice day, not too hot. The area we stopped wasn’t packed with people.
There were kites flying out in the breeze. It was a nice day.
It was time to head to our next stop, Katie’s Seafood Market.
Katie’s Seafood Market has been around a long time. Offering fresh seafood and shellfish.
We grabbed a few different items like Whole Red fish, a beautiful Whole Flounder from Katie’s. I can’t wait to share those dishes. Yum.
Katie’s is located right by the water. They had great prices.
Katie’s Seafood Market is located at 1902 Wharf Rd, Galveston, TX 77550. For more information visit https://www.katiesseafoodmarket.com/
Katie’s also has a restaurant so we stopped for lunch at Katie’s Seafood House.
Katie’s Seafood House is a Seafood restaurant that showcases their fresh seafood.
Due to the pandemic, my family and I are still social distancing. We aren’t ready to dine out in a restaurant right now. But, we did grab lunch to go.
We ordered a few items from their menu.
First is the Smoked Stuffed Boudin Balls. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a picture of the boudin balls.
The boudin balls were made with Mosquito Fleet shrimp, D.J.’s Boudin rice, pork, onion, bell pepper, serrano pepper, lightly smoked with almighty good sauce.
The boudin balls were smoky in flavor. Decent size balls, mixed with boudin and shrimp. Really good. The sauces weren’t labeled in the bag so we have no idea which sauce we were supposed to use. So we paired it with a cocktail sauce. Which was delicious.
Recommendations put the sauces in the containers with the food it belongs with or label the containers. But the boudin balls were good.
We also ordered their Galveston’s Famous Buddy Burger. Seasoned spiced beef patty served with bacon, cheese, tomato, pickles, lettuce, onion, fries. Served on a delicious toasted bun.
The Burger was incredible. Our kids split the burger and they loved it. So good!
My husband and I shared the Fried Flounder Sandwich. The flounder was fried and served on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomatoes and tartar sauce. Served with fries and slaw.
The fish sandwich was delicious. The flounder sandwich is a great menu offering. My only complaint is that the slaw didn’t make it in the bag. So I will say, if you will offer to go orders, remember those orders are just as important if not more important than those dining in. Why because, they won’t go back and pick up whatever the item that was left out.
But overall I have to say, we were impressed with the food. We plan to visit Katie’s Seafood House once all of the Covid-19 is over with. It’s in a great location and we would love to dine out on their patio that faces the water.
