Anyone who knows me, knows that there are two things that I love to eat and that is hot dogs & nachos. There are not many places here where you can get a really good hot dog. Well I have a surprise for you, Pelon’s Mexican Hot Dogs. This place has been open for a while now.
I started out with a Jarritos Fruit Punch aka Tutti Fruiti. Jarritos is a Mexican drink. A red sweet flavored drink consisting of lemon juices, orange, cherry with a hint of mango and passion fruit.  This drink does not disappoint. I would love to order some of these for my home to drink.
If you are looking for a meal that you can pick up and go Pelon’s is the place to be. Pelon’s has a drive-thru, call in your order before you come so it can be ready when you arrive. Pictured below is the building where all the goodness is served. It’s not a big place, but very clean and sanitary.

The only downside is that there is no covered place to sit. There are tables and benches to sit on near the building. One suggestion would be to invest in couple of umbrellas to put on the table with the summer coming. But, don’t let that stop from trying this awesome place. I usually eat in my car or take it to go.

The Chicken Tortilla Soup was my appetizer. When I say, this is the best Chicken Tortilla soup I have ever had, I am not kidding. It was amazing. The soup looked awesome!

When I tasted this soup, I was very surprised by the flavor. The flavor was off the charts. There were chunks of chicken with shredded cheese and tortilla strips on top. Omg..Amazing. Pelon’s needs to bottle this dish. I can eat soup whether its hot or cold. Definitely at the top of my list of must try soups here in Lafayette.

I ordered the Taquito Dog with grilled onions, cheese and mustard. The dog is a turkey frank wrapped in bacon and a tortilla deep fried. So good, as pictured above and below this dog looked amazing. There are radishes and lime that are used as garnishes. This food is prepared to perfection.

Pelon’s offers three different dogs, the classic, the taquito & the taco dog. As we know, hot dogs can be topped with an assortment of toppings. Some of the options at Pelon’s is sour cream, grilled jalapeno, melted queso, etc…No matter how you like your dog topped, you will not leave disappointed with your choice!

The garlic chips with queso together made for an amazing side dish. I can eat this at least once a week. I love, love nachos. Pelon’s should create a nacho plate with the homemade garlic chips, homemade queso, some type of meat and the homemade pico de gallo. Yum..

The pico de gallo had well-balanced flavors, which consisted of cilantro, red onions, bell peppers, diced tomatoes, salt & pepper.  Delicious. You can top your dog with it, eat with your chips. Pelon’s offers other sides like esquites which is roasted corn in a cup or garlic chips with guacamole or soup.

Overall the food was amazing! I enjoyed the food. The service was great as well. The owners are very friendly. Not much small talk but the service was impeccable. If you haven’t had Pelon’s, make it a family lunch. Because hot dogs can cater to everyone in the family. Inexpensive as well, can’t ask for better than that.
