A few weeks ago, my mom and I met for breakfast at Poet’s Cafe. Poet’s Cafe is Lafayette’s newest Coffee Lounge. The Coffee Lounge has a really cool vibe. The menu offers, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, muffins, coffees, cappuccinos and speciality items and so much more.
When I walked in, I really liked the look of the interior. Though there was not a specific style decor, the cafe offered a casual look with a variety of seating options. The Cafe had a very Rustic and freestyle feel. Pretty cool.
The breakfast sandwiches, muffins and pastries were in a glass display.
We were greeted by a young lady who shared a few drink options with us. The printed menus were not available yet, but that’s ok, because the coffee shop had only been opened for about a week or two when we went.
I ordered a Vanilla Latte for me and a Caramel Latte for my mom. Unfortunately the young lady mixed up the coffee order. She prepared a Hazelnut Latte instead. Since they are a new coffee shop, I excused the mistake.
Pictured below in the Dog Coffee mug was the Vanilla Cafe au Lait. I love that the coffee was served in decorative coffee mugs. The coffee was pretty good.
The Walgreens cup was the Hazelnut Coffee. Though it wasn’t the Caramel Cafe au Lait I ordered, the Hazelnut was good.
The lady sitting behind us ordered a Decaf Hazelnut Latte. I thought her drink was pretty so she was kind enough to allow me to take a picture. The latte was served with whip cream and half and half instead of milk. She said it was very good.
After enjoying our coffee, we decided to try a few of the breakfast items. Pictured first was the Lemon Poppyseed muffin. The Lemon Poppyseed muffin was so good. Moist and tasty. The muffin was very fresh. So good.
The sausage, egg and cheese biscuit was yummy. The biscuit sandwich was cheesy and delicious. Served pipping hot.
The cinnamon roll was huge. You could taste the cinnamon, the icing on the cinnamon roll was perfect. Not too much icing but the right amount. All I was missing was a nice big glass of milk. So good.
Overall we enjoyed our time at Poet’s Cafe. A really cool hang out spot for a coffee date, breakfast with friends or to go and get some work done. Poet’s Cafe also has free wifi.
The coffee and breakfast sandwiches, pastries and muffins were really good. The only complaint that I had that there was no menus available yet. But I was told that the menus would be ready within a week. So by the time you read this blog, the big menu boards should be available.
The outdoor patio was nice. On a cool day, that would be the perfect spot to sit and enjoy. If you have a dog and live in the area, feel free to bring your dog and sit outside on the patio.
In the future, Poet’s Cafe is planning to offer lunch and desserts as well.
The cafe is conveniently located near the UL Campus. The address is 1043 Johnston Street, Lafayette, LA. The hours of operation are Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 8:00 pm or later if there is entertainment; Also Saturdays 11:00 am – through late night.
Go check out Poet’s Cafe and be sure to tell them that Da’Stylish Foodie sent you!
