One of my friends posted on Instagram about this restaurant that he loves called Good to Geaux. The name was unfamiliar to me so I googled the restaurant. I added the name to my list of must visits and scheduled a day to go.
My husband and I decided to go for lunch one day. Good to Geaux has been around for about 3 years. It was originally a sandwich shop that eventually evolved into a restaurant cranking out homemade dishes.
We walked into the restaurant and was immediately greeted by this sweet lady. She began telling us all about the lunch specials and the other food offerings.
We placed our orders and chose our seats and waited to be served. As we looked around while sitting, the restaurant was what we would call a Creole, Cajun house. A nice homey feeling, the restaurant is not very big, but there is plenty of room to get a good meal. A cute, quaint spot.
Our food arrived at our table and the food looked awesome. The Lasagna was stacked in layers of ground meat, cheese and pasta. The perfect amount of pasta, sauce to cheese ratio. Superb!
Homemade and good quality! I couldn’t stop eating the Lasagna. The garlic bread was buttery and garlicky. So good.
My husband ordered the Pork Chop with rice dressing and potato salad. The Pork chop was browned and served with a nice gravy. The rice dressing was homemade and the perfect meat to rice mixture. Now I must say, my husband loves potato salad and there are few places that he has found that prepares the potato salad like he likes it. This potato salad was spot on.
Desserts are one of my favorites and Good to Geaux serves delicious desserts. A variety of options like cake, brownies and cheesecakes.
We ordered cheesecake for our dessert. I chose the Biscoff and my husband ordered the Cinnamon Roll Cheesecake. The cheesecakes were so good. The Biscoff was my favorite, pictured above. Two really solid cheesecakes.
I’m going on the record and saying that Good to Geaux is a best kept secret that has been tucked away long enough. A hidden treasure.
Overall the food was absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable and the staff was friendly and very welcoming.
Before leaving we had a chance to speak with one of the owners, Mrs. Mary Plaisance. She was so sweet and quite funny.
She told me all about how the restaurant had started and how they have evolved into the restaurant that they are now.
In addition to the lunch specials, Good to Geaux also offers, sandwiches, paninis, burgers and poboys. In addition, also offering breakfast. I can’t wait to check them out for Breakfast.
