This past Saturday the family & I headed to Uncle T’s Oyster Bar. Uncle T’s is the newest addition to the Scott area. An Oyster Bar and Seafood restaurant.
We drove up to the restaurant and loved the look of the exterior. The outdoor space was captivating.
As we entered the restaurant we were greeted by a friendly lady who welcomed us. The interior of the restaurant was different. I loved the brick walls and red lighting throughout.
There was a bar area with bar seating and elevated seating in the area.
As I walked through the restaurant I noticed an area known as the man cave. The area was a bit private with a long table perfect for a guys night with friends.
The main area of the dining room was wide open and spacious. The side area had a sliding window that slides up. This will be perfect when Uncle T’s starts offering Live Music during the cooler months on the patio.
My family & I decided to sit outside on the patio. It was a nice day.
We ordered our drinks and began perusing through the menu. We knew that we were going to order Oysters for sure. But we wanted to order an appetizer.
We ordered the Zydeco Chicken. Crispy dark meat chicken drizzled with a Cajun glaze. Really good!! The chicken was fried perfectly and evenly tossed with the glaze. Delicious!!!
I ordered a mocktail. The drink was bright and vibrant.
Uncle T’s has an oyster sampler called the Holly Beach Sampler. The Sampler included 3 different types of oysters. The Nola, The Firecracker and Classic Candy Oyster.
The Nola Style Oyster included garlic butter with Parmesan cheese. So good.
The Firecracker Oyster was my favorite. This Oyster included jalapeños, cheese, bacon and Cajun seasoning. Superb!
The Classic Candy Oyster was different with the Cajun glaze and candied jalapeño.
All the oysters were absolutely delicious.
We had a chance to try an off menu item that is in the works, Bon Cochon Oyster aka the Good Pig.
The Oyster included boudin, pepper jack cheese, steen syrup with a creole mustard. Oh my word, they need to add this to the menu immediately. Amazing!! It’s very different and no other restaurants here has an Oyster like this.
The kiddos ordered from the kids menu. Z-man has been on a fish kick lately. He loves fish. Fried fish with waffle fries. The fish was fried nicely.
Baby girl ordered the fried shrimp. The shrimp were a good size. Crust was delicious on the shrimp. A good choice.
The hubby ordered the Swamp thang, which was the alligator tossed in Landry’s sauce topped with candied jalapeños on a fresh Poboy bun. This Poboy was superb. The flavors all worked well together. The bread was soft made fresh locally. So good.
I ordered the Fried Shrimp Basket with hush puppies and instead of the waffle fries I had the coleslaw. Golden brown shrimp with tartar sauce so good.
We didn’t order any dessert but Uncle T’s also serves dessert.
Overall we enjoyed our time at Uncle T’s. The food was served in a timely manner. Pipping hot and well prepared. The service was good.
We had a chance to chat a little with the owner and his wife. The restaurant has a lot of history. “The original all-brick building was built in the 1950’s by Lexi’s grandfather, J. Warren Landry. Originally housing the Scott Post Office, later becoming a Laundromat before Cue Time Bar moved in. Cue Time, by namesake was a Billiard room and a well-known place where important meetings were held among business owners, politicians and other prominent members of the Scott Community”.
I love that some of the original parts of the building was incorporated within the new look of the restaurant. Incredible!
Be sure to go check out Uncle T’s. Tell them that Da’ Stylish Foodie sent you!
