SONIC Rolls Out First Mobile Order Ahead Market Test
“After beta testing in hometown of Oklahoma City, new app feature coming to Lafayette, La. first (OKLAHOMA CITY) – In its next step to become the Drive-In of the future, SONIC® Drive-In (NASDAQ: SONC) is rolling out a market test of its newest mobile app feature, Mobile Order Ahead, on Monday, March 5, in Lafayette, La. The addition of the Order Ahead component adds extra levels of convenience, personalization and ease unmatched in the industry. The Lafayette market test is the next step in the brand’s Integrated Customer Engagement (ICE) initiative designed to make SONIC the most personalized quick service restaurant experience. This test will lead to the planned national introduction of Order Ahead later in 2018.
Order Ahead allows SONIC guests to build, customize, place, schedule and pay for their SONIC order within the mobile app. When picking up an order, a guest can pull into any open drive-in parking stall to be first in line every time – there’s no waiting in line or circling the parking lot for a special spot to become available.
“The drive-in restaurant format is uniquely designed for personalization and fast service, and guests know SONIC as a place that offers unparalleled customization. The introduction of the Order Ahead feature within the mobile app elevates the strong differentiators of the SONIC brand,” said Jose Dueñas, Sonic Corp. chief brand officer. “Expanding to a full market allows us to test customer communication and marketing of the new feature in preparation for a national rollout this fiscal year.”
The Lafayette market test will be supported by a 360-marketing campaign aimed at driving downloads, adoption and use that will allow SONIC to make mobile app updates prior to the next iteration of testing. Lafayette guests will experience the customization and convenience of the Order Ahead process, plus receive a one-time $5 credit in their SONIC mobile account after their first order as a thank you. This app is a great idea. My kids love Sonic and we go to Sonic at least once a week. With the order ahead feature we are able to skip the line and get our order quicker. A must try.

I think this app could save time which is always a good thing!
I currently use the Sonic app and I can receive my birthday treats and coupons with different deals on the app and this has helped me a lot, rather than print out a paper and try to catch it if it blows away in the wind.
