A few days ago I had to bring my car in for routine maintenance. Kona Haven Coffee was a few minutes away, so I decided to give them a try.
“Kona is the very special coffee grown on the dark volcanic lava rock slopes of Kona, with enviable consistent quality. Kona coffee is a deliciously rich, medium-bodied and slightly acidic coffee with a heady aroma and complex, winey, spicy taste.
Kona, on the west coast of Hawaii island (also known as The Big Island), has produced coffee continuously since the early 1800’s. The Kona name only applies to beans grown in North and South Kona, and coffee that is grown elsewhere in Hawaii cannot be called Kona coffee”.
As I walked into the coffee shop, the coffee shop had a very cool vibe.
A welcoming environment with a modern spin. Hints of Hawaii through out the coffee shop.
I chose a spot to sit and headed towards the counter to place my order. The menu board was easy to read.
With menu offerings from Lattes, Pour Overs, Smoothies, Iced Coffee, Tea, Sandwiches, Hawaiian Finger Sandwiches, Egg Sandwiches, Bagel or Croissant Sandwiches, Gelato and much more.
I started with a Caramel Macchiato. The coffee was smooth with a nice punch. Not overly sweet. Just how I like my coffee.
I wasn’t very hungry, so I went with the Avocado and Egg Bagel.
The multi-grain bagel was toasted nicely and layered with avocado and sliced boiled egg. Finished with the salt and pepper. A good choice.
I love that this coffee shop also serves lunch and desserts. In addition they have muffins, scones, a variety of drinks.
The vibe of the coffee shop was relaxed and laid back. Definitely a coffee shop that I would visit again.
I loved that there were hints of Hawaiian accents through out. Keeping with the name of the Coffee Shop.
A few things that put them overtop in my eyes as an exceptional coffee shop, there was a changing table in the restroom for moms. I’ve been to my share of coffee shops both here in Houston as well as around the world and that’s not something I’ve seen a lot. Love this.
Also welcoming for families, there was a kid’s menu. Another thing that you don’t see often in coffee shops. Awesome!
Overall, I loved this coffee shop. I wish they were closer to where we are living right now. But if I am in the Katy area, I will definitely go back again. There were a few other things on the menu I want to go back and try. So I will be back.
