Rest, It’s OK…

Many don’t know but I had surgery about 3 weeks ago. We only told family and close friends about the surgery. I’m so thankful for my family and friends who covered me in prayer.

My family really stepped up and helped me out. Allowing me to focus on my recovery. Traveling from out of town, staying with me and helping my husband with our kids.

Leading up to the surgery I began to get a little anxiety. But God continued to remind me that He had it all under control.

1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

Even the day of my surgery God had the right people in the right place working. Reminding me that God was in control, His hand and glory continued to shine. Showing that there is Power in Prayer.

I was blessed that I only had to stay one night in the hospital. Allowing me to finish my recovery at home.

Sending me home with a few simple orders, but the most important one REST.

I’m on the go a lot with two kids, their schedules, a business and running a household but I knew my priority was to get well.

My family was there making sure I did just that. Even if I wanted to try and do this or that, I had no luck. Someone was saying NO.

The first few days were really good and easy to rest. My husband cooked and took care of the kiddos. He was the real MVP. My family was there to help out.

My close friends checked on me daily, making sure I was OK. Which really meant a lot.

My kiddos enjoyed cuddle time with mom.

I did lots of reading, listened to sermons and watching TV and movies and enjoyed being home and spending time with my family. Since I usually work from home I was allowed a little time to blog but REST was key. Having content for days really helped me to keep my blog going.

After that first week, I have to be honest I was ready to break free. God began to speak to me and told me it’s OK to REST.

Believe me, like many others, we are used to a life of busyness and we forget that REST heals, REST rejuvenates, REST revives and REST replenishes us.

2 Corinthians 4:16. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. –

This reminded me it’s OK to REST. We all need it.

Thankfully I’m back on the up and up. I’m still under the doctors care and I have to slowly ease back into my routine, but I’m thankful for the rest and I will continue to find times and moments to rest. Life is better when we Rest!

Better for our health, body, mind and soul.

Exodus 33:14 “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Today I want to encourage you to REST.  Take a moment, hour, a day to breathe, meditate, be alone, slow down from the busyness and just Rest!

Happy Wednesday!
