We are loving exploring the Houston area. Houston has so many places to explore, things to do and good food to eat. From time to time we always like to eat food that reminds of home and the latest restaurant satisfied that itch.
A few weeks ago my husband and I had a lunch date at a restaurant called The RouxPour Restaurant and Bar.
The RouxPour is a New Orleans inspired restaurant.
A very neat name,
“Roux [rōō] is the cornerstone of sauce making for traditional New Orleans cuisine.
Pour [pôr]…well, we’d like to pour YOU a drink!
Rapport [raˈpôr] is a positive relationship between people.
The Rouxpour [rōō-pôr]”
Known for their fresh seafood, oysters and their award winning gumbo.
The feel of the restaurant is a very French Quarter vibe. A very welcoming atmosphere.
The Rouxpour Restaurant & Bar Katy is the newest addition to The Rouxpour family and is located in the La Centerra shopping center at Cinco Ranch.
We arrived right during the lunch rush. We were seated immediately. The restaurant was booming for lunch.
The waitress arrived to take our drink orders.
We were already perusing the menu and had spotted a few appetizers we wanted to try.
1/2 dozen Tan’s Mignonette Garlic, chili-soy sauce & cilantro on the half shell. The Raw oysters were different. Not the type of oysters we normally order, but we wanted something different. A nice amount of heat. An asian twist to raw oysters.
1/2 dozen Chargrilled Oyster Bienville. Shrimp, redfish, mushrooms & bell peppers topped with a Parmesan & Romano cheese blend. These oysters were delicious.
My only complaint is that the oyster shells were almost black on the outside. Which didn’t make for a very good photo.
Crab fingers. Crab claws in a garlic lemon butter sauce. Really yummy. A simple appetizer but very flavorful.
For my entree, I ordered the Zydeco Chicken. A Cajun fried chicken breast topped with Bayou sauce. Served with garlic mashed potatoes & fresh green beans. Wow.
The chicken was fried perfectly. A golden brown chicken breast topped with some of the best sauce I’ve eaten in a long time.
Garlic mashed potatoes and green beans paired perfectly with this dish.
I ordered the lunch version which had a good portion size.. I took a doggie bag home with my leftovers.
My husband ordered the Bayou Pork Ribeye. Twin pork ribeyes with a creamy Gouda cheese sauce, jalapeño sausage & crawfish tails. Served with garlic parmesan potato wedges & veggie du jour.
This dish was bananas! Absolutely delicious and massive! We could have shared this dish. It was so big.
We were so stuffed at the end of lunch. No room for dessert, but I hear the bread pudding is to die for.
Overall, we loved the vibe of the restaurant. The service was really good. The food was superb. I love the location that it’s in, so many places to shop, dine and enjoy the outside.
The RouxPour is serving up a true taste of New Orleans with the a beautiful patio overlooking the lake. A New Orleans menu that will give you a taste of the Big Easy right here in Texas!
The RouxPour has several locations throughout the Houston area.
The location that we visited was in the Katy area, 2643 Commercial Center BLVD, Building A300, Katy, TX 77494.
