My family often goes out exploring different areas in Texas on the weekends. We are officially back into the school routine.

Our daughter started school a few weeks ago. So we now only have the weekends to go out and explore.

It was a busy week and we considered staying in but we needed to run an errand so we decided to take a drive to Baytown.

We were heading to a spot called the Baytown Umbrella Alley. What is it you asked? It’s just what the name says. An alley filled with Umbrellas and Art Murals. Such a cool area.

It’s a great spot to take photos. Colorful, bright and picturesque.

From the Umbrellas hanging over the top of the Alley. To the wall murals that were beautifully painted.

We loved the Umbrella Alley.

The Umbrella Alley is located in the downtown area of Baytown.

We walked down the street and saw the coolest double-sided mural.

The art work in this area was stunning and absolutely beautiful.

After a fun time of taking pictures and exploring it was time to eat lunch.

Here is a short video of our visit to the Umbrella Alley.

We stopped by Gus World Famous Fried Chicken. I mean who doesn’t love Fried Chicken. Since moving to Texas I have wanted to try Gus.

Gus World Famous Fried Chicken serves chicken that is fresh, never frozen, hormone-free chicken.

We love supporting restaurants but at this time we are still not dining out due to the pandemic.

I decided to get down and place the order to go. There was a visual menu as well as paper menus to keep. I placed my order and there are to wait which was separate from the dining area. Which I thought was really nice.

I ordered the 2 Leg Kid’s plate for our daughter. This plate came with Mac n Cheese.

For our son, we ordered the 2 chicken tenders plate with mac n cheese. The chicken tenders were huge. A little spicy for him but he loved the mac n cheese. I forgot to take a picture of his plate.

My husband and I ordered the same thing, the 2 meat plate with a Fried chicken leg and thigh. Served with baked beans and coleslaw with a slice of bread.

I also ordered a side French Fries and Fried Okra. I have to say that the sides were just as good as the fried chicken.

Every single component of our plate was served pipping hot. Really good.

The service was exceptional from the moment I walked in until I left. We would definitely go back again.
