We have had some really rainy days here in Houston the past few days. It all started on Sunday. Sundays are normally our days to dine out after church on the Patio of a good restaurant. Well Sunday it was raining cats, dogs, horses, etc. Lol. Let me quit.

Seriously it was really wet. So we decided to grab and go. We stumbled on a spot called Howdy Hot Chicken.

Howdy Hot Chicken is a fast casual restaurant. Serving items that are made to order. Items like Chicken Sammies, Loaded Chicken Fries, Mac n cheese and few other items.

The spice levels range from Harmless to Have Mercy Extra Hot. CHOOSE WISELY!

The hot chicken is not your traditional hot chicken that’s dipped in sauce. Instead the Hot chicken is seasoned to different levels with a spice blend depending on your choice and level of heat.

As I walked in, I was greeted by a really nice gentlemen.

He took my order and I waited for my order to be prepared.

My son ordered the Howdy Chicken with fries. The chicken and fries are battered and fried no additional seasoning added for kids. Served with waffle fries.

He really enjoyed the waffle fries. But he told me that the chicken was a little spicy.

Our daughter also ordered the Howdy Chicken but with Mac n cheese. The mac n cheese was delicious. She loved the chicken as well.

My husband ordered the Howdy Sammie. The Howdy Sammie included Fried Chicken Breast on a Brioche bun with howdy slaw, sweet pickles and howdy sauce. My husband is not a big spice person so he did the Hello spice level. A little spicy he said but not bad. Perfect for him.

The slaw, pickles and sauce help to cool off the chicken a little. The chicken was fried perfectly. The sandwich ingredients worked well together.

We ordered a side of Mac n Cheese. The mac n cheese had mild seasoning on top. Killer mac n cheese for a fast casual restaurant.

They need a loaded chicken, mac n cheese bowl. That would be so good. Simple bowl of mac topped with spicy chicken, green onions and a drizzle of the howdy sauce. Oh man. If you’ll do this howdy Hot chicken name it after me. Ha ha! Seriously it would be delicious.

I ordered the Loaded Chicken fries. This dish included Waffle fries, topped with Fried Chicken bites, queso cheese, howdy slaw, sweet pickles and howdy sauce. I went with the Heat Up for my spice level.

These loaded fries were delicious. Everything was fried to perfection. All of the toppings worked well together. The queso was superb. The spice level was hot but it was so good. The slaw and pickles helped cool the dish down.

My only recommendation would be for smaller chicken bites. The size of the chicken was more like chunks. But that’s just my recommendation. This will allow you to get a taste of everything in one bite.

Overall everything was delicious. Everything was made to order. The food came out in a timely manner. We loved everything that we tried. The service was great. The employees were super nice.

I love the look of the restaurant as well. Lots of Howdy Chicken signage throughout. Spots to take photos as well.

Howdy Hot Chicken has two locations Sugarland, TX and Houston, TX. We visited the Houston location at 3520 S. Shepherd Dr. Houston, TX.

The Hours of Operation are Sunday – Thursday 11:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. and Friday – Saturday 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
