My mom visited us here in Houston a few weeks ago. She arrived mid morning. We stopped in for a bite to eat at Weights and Measures for brunch/lunch.

Weights and Measures is a restaurant, bar and bakery combo that serves American style food in a stylish, cool/hip environment. The restaurant had an Industrial style vibe. I loved the pops of color outside and on the inside.

As we arrived, I immediately noticed the outdoor seating area. It was a little warm to sit outside so we grabbed a table inside near the window.

We arrived at opening time. Thankful we beat the rush.

Our waiter arrived to greet us and tell us about the restaurant. She made a few dish recommendations.

We started with a few Lattes. I ordered the S’mores Latte. This latte was visually appealing and very cute. The latte was really good. A little on the sweet side but it was delicious.

My mom ordered the simple Caramel Latte. But the Latte art was well done.

We started with one of the Snack plates, Roasted Corn + Zucchini Fritter. The corn and zucchini is battered and fried. A crispy fritter that was topped with parmesan cheese, drizzled with truffle honey and sprouts.

Visually stunning dish that was very unique. The flavor profiles really worked well together. I wasn’t sure if the ingredients would, but we were pleasantly surprised.

The waitress recommended the Braised Short Ribs Sandwich. These sandwich was a favorite of Guy Fieri.

The Braised Short Ribs Sandwich is made on their House Rye bread, horseradish dijon, caramelized onions, swiss, cress (edible herb). Served with house chips and pickles.

The sandwich was ok. I thought it lacked seasoning. I love short ribs but the meat lacked seasoning. Now full disclosure, I am from Louisiana so I prefer to eat highly seasoned food.

But, I did love the creativity of this sandwich. The meat to sandwich ratio was great. The toasted bread held up well with all of the ingredients.

The house chips and pickles were a great addition to this sandwich.

We also tried the Brioche French toast, with Bone-In Fried Chicken with Maple Syrup. This dish was superb. The chicken was golden brown fried to perfection.

This was a change, most places do Chicken and Waffles, but the french toast was nice change. I love brioche bread for French Toast. A well done dish.

Overall, the dining experience at Weights & Measures was phenomenal. The service was good. Everything menu item we tried was well thought out in presentation and taste.

One thing I will say is that I loved the detailed menu. Each menu item had details on what the dish included. As someone who has a child with food allergies this was definitely a plus in my eyes.

The vibe and feel of the restaurant was very nice. I love the look of the restaurant.

The food overall was pretty good. I would definitely dine at Weights and Measures again. I love the wide opened space of the restaurant.

Weights and Measures also has a private area to host parties or lunch dates.

No time to stay, stop in at the counter at Weights & Measures. They have bakery items that are made daily. Order your meal to go.
