My Hubby and I have our lunch dates on Friday. This particular week we decided to check our Daily Gather in one of my favorite areas in Texas, CityCentre.
Daily Gather is a restaurant that you want to gather your people and stay awhile. A very welcoming atmosphere with beautiful decor.
Their motto is “Gather ‘Round & Stay A While”.
As we approached the restaurant we loved the open area patio that overlooked the courtyard area of CityCentre.
There was an adorable truck outside of the restaurant that was a cute photo opp.
The decor of the restaurant was upscale casual.
It was a beautiful day so we decided to sit outside. We were seated and handed the menu to peruse. The menu wasn’t extensive so we knew fairly quickly what we wanted.
The waiter took quite a while to come to the table. When he did arrive he seemed very rushed. He took our drink orders and said he would be back.
I loved that Daily Gather has a few Mocktails on their menu.
I ordered the Daily “BLT”. This drink included blueberry, lemon, thyme and sparkling water. A simple, yet well balanced drink.
My husband ordered the Ginger Strawberry Lemonade. This drink included Ginger Tonic water, agave and fresh strawberries. Really good.
We started with the Deviled Eggs. A seeded mustard, egg yolk with a tabasco, bacon crumble filling that was topped with green onion and flaky salt.
Simple ingredients that made for a tasty deviled egg.
My husband decided to try the Shrimp & Grits. This dish included large gulf shrimp in a lemon garlic butter on a bed of smoked gouda grits. With wilted greens, tabasco shallot butter, bacon, tomatoes, corn and green onions. Not your normal shrimp and grits but a nice twist to a classic southern dish. The dish was presented nicely.
The dish was good. My husband said it lacked salt. Needed a little seasoning.
I ordered the Seared Salmon. I switched up my normal Fish Friday with this delicious Salmon dish. Salmon can be boring if I’m honest. But this dish was not that. A well seasoned, seared salmon on a bed jasmine rice pilaf, topped with a viet-herb mix and basil oil. Served with a meyer lemon butter to finish this dish.
A simple dish, but it was delicious. My only nitpick would be that the salmon’s exterior of the skin wasn’t cooked evenly, visually not as pretty.
The salmon taste wise was perfect. The salmon was moist. I loved the Jasmine rice. Well done.
Overall we loved the Daily Gather. The food was good. Daily Gather offers a simple menu that is done well. The atmosphere and environment is relaxing and welcoming. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. I love the patio area that overlooks the green space.
The service was just ok. The restaurant is kid friendly and also offers a kid’s menu.We will definitely go back again. Great location, menu and space.
