Black Cafe has been open for almost 3 years. I have seen the coffee shop in the past, but never got around to trying the place. Lately, I have been looking for new coffee shops to try on Tuesdays. Tuesday is my day to write and plan out my restaurant reviews for the week.

This Tuesday, I decided to try Black Cafe. Black Cafe is located near where I grew up. Black Cafe is a coffee shop that offers breakfast and lunch. A variety of menu options to accommodate your dining preferences.

I started with a Caramel Latte decaf. The Latte was perfectly prepared. Just the way I like my Latte. I didn’t need to add any sugar or anything. Perfect.

The coffee served was Reve Coffee Roasters. Superb coffee!

For breakfast, I started with the scotch egg. A scotch egg is an hard-boiled egg that is battered, wrapped in meat, battered again and baked or deep fried. Really good.

Black Cafe also offers a scotch egg with chicken breast or shredded potatoes.

In addition, I tried the Sweet Potato Biscuit and the Blueberry Scone.

The Sweet Potato Biscuit was just OK to me. The biscuit didn’t have any flavor, but the pecans added a nice texture. A dipping sauce or jelly would have been a nice addition to the biscuit.

The blueberry scone was so good. The blueberry scone was moist, warm and was so good. I love scones and this one was really good.

Black Cafe also offers breakfast sandwiches, beignets, banana breads and bagels.

In addition to their breakfast menu, they also serve lunch and dinner. Offerings like Paninis, Sandwiches, Burgers and Chips, and much more.

I really like that Black Cafe had a nice outdoor area with tables and umbrellas. Perfect on a beautiful day.

Overall I love the look and feel of Black Cafe. A very nice cafe with simple decorations but spacious. The windows all the way around the sitting area added a nice touch.

The staff was friendly and very accommodating. I will definitely will be coming back again for another visit.

More importantly, the food was good and prepared well.

One plus was that Black Cafe has a drive thru for call ahead orders.

Black Cafe is located at 518 S. Pierce Street, Lafayette, LA 70501. The Hours of Operation are Monday – Friday 6:30 am – 6:30 pm and Sundays from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.
