We were blessed to survive the Winter Storm. A few days after the storm, the weather and ice cleared up and we were free to go about our normal activities. My family and I decided to go out and grab lunch in the area.

Before lunch we headed to La Centerra in Katy, TX. It’s one of our favorite places to hang out. We stopped in at Gelato & Co. Creameria Italina for some Hot Chocolate.

Gelato and Co. serves hot chocolate that my kiddos love.

La Centerra is a really nice area with lots of places to dine, shop and enjoy.

The pond areas are relaxing and refreshing.

I think everyone was happy to be out enjoying nature. We sure were happy to enjoy it.

BBQ was on our mind, so we headed to a local BBQ Spot called Harris County Smokehouse.

We have been to one of the Harris County Smokehouse’s before, so I won’t go into the back story. I will only discuss what we ate, the atmosphere and service of the Katy location.

Harris County Smokehouse Katy is serving up Texas BBQ, breakfast in a lodge-like setting with taxidermy and an outdoor space. Offering breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We arrived mid-afternoon, after the lunch rush.

As we entered the restaurant, we noticed that the bbq offers Cafeteria style service. The menu was available to view, you place your orders and move through the line.

The restaurant had a very lodge-like feel.

Harris County also has a covered outdoor space. We dined outside.

Our son ordered the Little Buckaroo with BBQ Dinner. The dinner included 2 pieces of Chicken thigh and leg with one side, corn on the cobb with bbq sauce on the side.  He absolutely loved his food. He ate almost all of it. Really good.

Our daughter ordered a Quesadilla with pulled pork. The quesadilla included two tortilla filled with pulled pork, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, grilled onions and cilantro. Served with sour cream and picante sauce. Also lettuce and pico de gallo.

Our cheese lover was thoroughly pleased with her meal.

My hubby ordered the BBQ Dinner, two meat plate with Brisket with Pulled Pork and two sides, loaded baked potato with cheddar cheese, sour cream, cheese, chives and bacon and fried okra.

The sides were perfection.

The brisket was a bit dry. His pulled pork was spot on.

I ordered the Two meat BBQ Dinner as well. I ordered the Brisket and Sausage. The smoked sausage was delicious. Like my husband said the brisket was dry. They definitely overcooked it.

The baked beans and mac n cheese was delicious. They nailed the side dishes. No complaints at all.

One of the things I loved is that the condiments were all individual portioned due to covid. I definitely appreciated that.

Overall the food was really good. The service was just ok. Nothing exceptional, the staff wasn’t welcoming nor were the rude. Nothing memorable at all.

The outdoor space was comfortable and we enjoyed our lunch outside. The weather was perfect for it.
