Étouffée is a dish that I grew up eating. Étouffée has a thick, gravy like consistency that has some sort of seafood. This Louisiana classic is one of the dishes we ate a lot growing up.
I have many recipes of this delicious dish. I was shipped these air fryer silicone liners. This liners make cleaning up easier.
I created an easy Shrimp and Crawfish Etouffee. Yes, I created this dish in the air fryer. You heard it.

Shrimp & Crawfish Étouffée
Ingredients:
- Crawfish tails (12 oz)
- Étouffée Sauce in a jar ( 16 oz, I used about 3/4 of the jar)
- Land O’Lakes butter (1 stick of butter melted = 1/2 cup)
- Old Bay Seasoning (season to taste)
- Slap Ya Mama Seasoning (season to taste)
- Smoked Paprika (season to taste)
- Garlic Powder (season to taste)
- Old Bay Seasoning (season to taste)
- Rice (cooked, optional) Try with pasta too
- Air Fryer Silicone Liners
- Water (2/3 cup)
- Shrimp (1 lb or less, peeled and deveined) *I used large shrimp, I think small or medium might have been better)
- Chives (Garnish)
- Parsley (Garnish)
Directions:
- Remove the crawfish from the pack. Drain the crawfish.
- Season with slap ya mama, garlic powder, smoked paprika, old bay seasoning. Set aside.
- Drain the shrimp. Season with the same seasoning. Set aside.
- Melt the butter. Set aside.
- Add the silicone liner to the air fryer.
- Add the shrimp to the air fryer liner.
- Pour in the melted butter. Stir.
- Set the air fryer to the shrimp setting, 400 degrees for 6 minutes.
- When done. Stir and add in the crawfish. Stir.
- Set to the shrimp timer again, 400 degrees for 4 minutes. Stir halfway through.
- Add in the étouffée sauce. Stir until well mixed.
- Add in the water. Stir. *Note, depending on your desired thickness, you may need to add more water.
- Set the air fryer to the shrimp setting once again, 400 degrees for 6 minutes. Stir the étouffée halfway through.
- Finish with parsley and chives.
- Serve over rice or with pasta.
- Enjoy.
