Yesterday I had the opportunity to be a part of the Smashburgers’ media day. This was my first time being in a Smashburger location. Smashburger is a fast casual restaurant that strives to serve a better burger; fresh never frozen.

The Lafayette restaurant had a very clean look. I loved the pops of red in the restaurant. The new location is about 2,260 square feet with seating for approximately 65 guest.

Each table had a menu tasting sheet placed nicely in a basket along with a bag for each guest attending the Media Preview Day.

Smashburgers are made of 100% Certified Angus Beef Burger, grass-fed, never frozen. The burgers are rolled each morning and when cooked the burgers are smashed on the grill which sears in the juices, creating a flavor packed, high quality burger.

The menu is not limited to burgers alone, but grilled or crispy chicken sandwiches, fresh salads and other healthy options.

We started our menu tasting with a few side options, sweet potato fries, smash fries and fried pickles. The sweet potato fries were fried and perfectly seasoned with sea salt. The sweet potato fries were very good.

The fried pickles were garlic pickles that are fried and served with ranch dressing. The pickles were fried to a golden brown color and crunchy with the ranch sauce. A very good side dish.

Smash fries are the signature fries that are tossed in Italian olive oil, rosemary and garlic. My favorite side of the day. So good, the fries weren’t greasy at all. One suggestion would be a dipping sauce for the smash fries and the sweet potato fries. But overall really good sides. These are not the only side options, there are others available.

Below is Classic Smashburger. This burger consisted of an egg bun, a Smashburger patty, American cheese, pickles, tomatoes, onion, lettuce, ketchup and smash sauce. The burger was not my favorite of the day, but it was pretty good. I would suggest a little more smash sauce on each burger.

The BBQ, Bacon and Cheddar Burger, pictured below, is a Smashburger patty, bacon, BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, applewood-smoked bacon, haystack onions all on an egg bun. This burger was absolutely delicious, in my top 2 of the day. The fried onion stacks on top added a nice texture to the burger. The burger could use a little more BBQ sauce. It wasn’t dry, but a little more BBQ sauce would top it off well.

The Truffle Mushroom Swiss Burger, which is a Smashburger topped with aged swiss cheese, sauteed crimini mushroom and truffle mayo on an egg bun. A pretty good burger, the truffle mayo was very good. The burger was cut in half and you could see the gooeyness of the cheese mixed with the truffle mayo. If you love mushrooms, a must try.  A delicious flavored burger.

Below is a Vegetarian option but it is not Vegan because of the cheese and the egg. But keep in mind that the black bean burger is cooked on the same grill as the chicken and beef. The black bean burger is topped with pepper jack cheese with avocado, lettuce, tomato and mayo on a multi-grain bun.

The black bean burger wasn’t bad. It was better than I thought it would be. A very tasty burger.

The grilled chicken sandwich included a multi-grain bun, a tender marinated smash chicken, goat cheese, spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette. This sandwich was amazing. A fresh sandwich. I loved that the chicken wasn’t a huge chicken breast but a perfect sized piece of chicken with smash seasoning and fresh ingredients.

If you are lactose intolerant, this is a good option for you.

The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich below was a fried chicken, with buffalo sauce, blue cheese, lettuce and tomato. The chicken was moist, well cooked. The Frank’s Red hot sauce and blue cheese went well together. I am not a big fan of blue cheese, but it was very good.

Below is the beautiful Cobb salad. Includes grilled chicken, fresh greens, crumbled blue cheese, sharp shredded cheddar cheese, fried egg, apple smoked wood bacon, diced tomatoes, onions with buttermilk ranch.  The presentation of this Cobb salad was beautiful. Chicken can be prepared either grilled or fried.

Smashburger created a specific menu with Regional flavors and taste in mind that was developed for the area. The Louisiana Burger and Louisiana Chicken Sandwich was served on a egg bun with lettuce, tomato, remoulade sauce, applewood smoked bacon, american cheese and cajun grilled onions. The burger was delicious, but the remoulade sauce didn’t have enough heat. I would suggest kicking it up a notch with some cayenne pepper or a spicy mayo instead.

For dessert we tried the Hand-spun shakes. The chocolate shake is made of vanilla Haagen-Dazs ice cream and chocolate syrup. The Peppermint shake was my favorite. Normally a peppermint shake is very strong, but the shake flavor was subtle. This will be a hit during the holiday season for sure.

Smashburgers also has a really cool option called Smash and Dash.  Order and pay online, your order will be ready when you arrive. This saves you time. Great option for that lunch rush.
Overall the dining experience was excellent. The food was delicious. Smashburger has something for everyone. The entire family can enjoy a nice lunch or dinner together and everyone leave happy. Smashburger has a few kids options, a Smashburger, hot dog, chicken strips and grilled cheese.
So whether you are craving a salad, a burger, chicken sandwich or a black bean burger. Smashburger is the place for you. With the delicious desserts, this is a one stop shop, everything you want in one place.
