We are no strangers to finding the best Seafood spots. Whether during our times of Travel or in our local state of Texas. Seafood is often a go to for us.

Being from Louisiana, we ate Seafood very often. Acme Oyster House is a favorite in Louisiana. Serving up Louisiana classics like Chargrilled Oysters, Fried Seafood, Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice and much more.

Acme Oyster House opened in Houston not too long ago. My family and I stopped in at  Acme one day for lunch after church.

We were so excited to dine at Acme. Acme had been opened for a few months but everytime we would pass the line was out the door so we decided to wait.

This particular Sunday, we decided to stop in and the line wasn’t as long. But there was quite a crowd already there when we arrived.

The restaurant felt like home. Felt familiar and reminded me of Louisiana. I loved the bright red accent wall. The wide opened space had a bit of an industrial vibe with bright red accents. The red accent colors was nice. Love it.

Acme is known for their Oysters. There was an oyster bar. I loved the hostess stand with the old oyster shells.

It was a gorgeous day, so we decided to dine outside. The hostess seated us outside.

Our waitress arrived after quite a wait. She was very nice and welcomed us. After she took our drink orders, we perused the menu.

You can’t go to Acme Oyster House without ordering some Chargrilled Oysters. The Chargrilled Oysters arrive at the table sizzling, chargrilled oysters, fresh crab meat saturated in an herb butter sauce topped with a blend of cheese.

The oysters were delicious. I wish we would have ordered a dozen. So good.

We also ordered an appetizer. The Boom Boom Shrimp. The Boom Boom Shrimp consisted of shrimp that is battered and fried. Then tossed with a delicious sauce. So good.

This dish is similar to bang bang shrimp. Delicious. The shrimp was fried perfectly. A  nice amount of heat. A crowd pleasure with the table.

Our son is a shrimp lover, he ordered the Kid’s Popcorn Shrimp with fries. Fried Shrimp with french fries and a dipping sauce. Perfect choice for my son.

Baby girl ordered the Seafood Gumbo. A Shrimp and Crab gumbo served with rice. She loved the gumbo. The gumbo had great flavor. She loved it.

My husband ordered the Fish Pontchartrain. This consisted of fried fish, topped with crab meat and shrimp in a butter cream sauce. Served with a medley of vegetables.

The dish tasted amazing, but was cold when it arrived at the table. You can visually look at the picture and see that this dish shouldn’t have been served like that.

I ordered the Fish TO which is an off menu item. This dish was recommended to me by the waitress. I decided to give it a try. I have to say the dish was really good. But my dish was cold also. The timing of the food was obviously off.

I was a bit disappointed in the overall dining experience. Serving cold food should never be ok. Though the food was seasoned and tasted great the fact that the food was cold took away from the deliciousness of the food.

We did mention to the waitress about it, but she didn’t seemed concerned about it. She was running around and seemed to be overworked.

As I mentioned earlier, I have eaten at several Acme Oyster Houses in the past and never been quite so disappointed.

The outdoor area where we were seated was really nice, but with this pandemic still going on, the tables needed to be distanced better.

I know that this review may be rough, but I have built my brand based on being honest with my followers.

I will also recommend that the kitchen be aware of the each ticket and time the food according.

The positives from our visit, the food taste wise was yummy. The restaurant is really nice. It’s in a great location. The restaurant is a family friendly restaurant.

The service was pretty good. The waitress was just overworked, they may have been shorthanded which caused delays and her forgetting things that we asked for. But she was really sweet.

Our favorite dish was the Boom Boom Shrimp. Everything about this dish was perfect.

We will give Acme Oyster another try in the future.
