I am continuing our journey in Waco, TX. In case you missed the first one, here is the first blog post
We spent a full day at Magnolia Market. More on this visit coming later this week.
But after a fun day of shopping we headed for a quick dinner at Guess Family BBQ.
Guess Family is a low-key spot that serves old school BBQ like Brisket, Pork Spare Ribs, Beef, Pulled Pork and more. This spot reminded me of the home cooked BBQ my family prepared when we were younger.
As we walked in we were immediately greeted by a super friendly lady working at the register. She welcomed us and asked us if we had dined there before. We told her no and she made a few recommendations.
I immediately noticed that the restaurant was a family friendly spot. There were lots of families already dining.
We placed our orders and headed to a table.
First to arrive was the Deviled Eggs. The deviled eggs consisted of Pimento Cheese topped with bacon jam.
The deviled eggs were different. The pimento cheese was a nice twist to deviled eggs. Topped with the bacon jam. I thought the pimento cheese and bacon jam together was pretty good.
The bacon jam was a bit overpowering. But I loved the uniqueness of the deviled egg.
The little man kept it simple he ordered the Kid’s Mac and cheese with apples. He loved it.
Baby girl ordered the Brisket Melt. This included Brisket, Cheddar Cheese, Caramelized onions, house aioli on Texas Toast. Basically a BBQ Grilled Cheese that was superb!
Our daughter loved this Melt! This cheese lover was very impressed.
The hubby and I ordered a few different things and we shared it.
We ordered the Baby Back Ribs. The Ribs were served with sliced bread, pickles and onions.
Ok let me start out by saying we’ve had our share of BBQ. We know good BBQ and let me tell you Guess BBQ knows what they are doing.
The ribs were delicious. Tender, cooked to perfection.
We also ordered the Sliced Brisket, the Cheddar Sausage Link with a side of Cheddar Cheese Grits and Beans with Burnt ends. Served with pickles, onions and jalapenos.
The Brisket was moist. Absolutely superb. We drizzled some sauce on top! Delicious.
The cheddar sausage link was really good. I believe the sausage is made in house.
The cheddar cheese grits were creamy, cheesy and a great side option.
The baked beans were nice with the chopped burnt ends in it. Seasoned well. We enjoyed both side dishes.
Sometimes you dine at BBQ spots and the BBQ is amazing but the sides are terrible. But not Guess BBQ.
Overall the BBQ and dining experience at Guess Family BBQ was top notch. The service was great. The food was delicious. We had no complaint about anything we ate.
Guess Family BBQ is located at 2803 Franklin Ave., Waco, TX. 76710.
Go check them out and be sure to tell them that the Da’Stylish Foodie sent you.
After a phenomenal meal we headed back to our hotel, Aloft Baylor.
If you are looking for a spot to stay while in Waco I definitely recommend this spot. This hotel is very close to Guess Family BBQ. As well as Magnolia Market. I will be sharing more about this in my next blog post.
Stay tuned. Be sure to follow the blog so you don’t miss any blog post.
