Recently I took a day trip to Lafayette to celebrate my birthday with my grandma. We share a birthday and I couldn’t miss celebrating with her. She’s 93, WOW! What a blessing.
We checked out a brand new restaurant called The Chimes. The Chimes is popping right now. A very popular restaurant serving many Louisiana classics like étouffée, fried seafood, burgers, Poboys and much more.
Originally started in Baton Rouge. Now expanded to Lafayette, their newest location. The Chimes is a family-friendly spot. Great spot to take the entire family.
We arrived during the lunch rush but we were seated and accommodated quickly. The hostess was very nice. She was thoughtful as well when choosing an area for us to sit especially because my grandma is 93. I loved that.
After being seated our waitress arrived quickly. She began taking drink orders. I ordered a delicious lavender mocktail.
The mocktail was pretty and presented nicely.
We started with the Spinach and artichoke dip with fried bow tie pasta. A yummy dish that is big enough to share with the entire table. The dip itself was delicious and cheesy. The bow tie pasta was a nice option but pasta should have been boiled a little more before frying. But it’s was a good menu option. Reminded me of a dish I used to eat at Copeland’s.
Here are some of the items my family tried:
My son ordered the Kid’s Fried Shrimp with fries and hushpuppies. Perfection. The Portion size was great for kids.
My mom ordered the Jalapeño Bacon Burger. This burger was huge! Spicy and prepared nicely.
My aunt ordered the Grilled Salmon with Stuffed Potato. The Salmon came with dill butter, lemon and pistolette. She loved this dish. She said it was seasoned well.
Grandma ordered Fish with Crawfish Etouffee. This dish consisted of fried fish topped with crawfish étouffée over a bed of rice. Finished with green onions. Superb. She had no complaints.
My husband ordered the Half and Half. Half fried shrimp and half fried catfish fillets. Served with hushpuppies and fries. Cocktail sauce and tartar sauce for dipping. Fried to perfection. His only complaint is that he couldn’t substitute for a different side instead of fries. It was too many french fries.
I ordered something other than Seafood. The Pork Scallopini, this is a thin pork cutlet that was seasoned and fried to perfection served on a bed of Alfredo pasta. Finished with garlic and herbs. This dish was delicious. Really good. The pork wasn’t dry, very moist. Delicious.
Overall our experience was incredible. From the hostess, to the dining, to the food, to the server. Top notch. No complaints at all. It was great being back in Louisiana. No place can beat the Louisiana culture and food. We had a large party but the waiter was amazing! She did a phenomenal job. I made sure to thank her personally for her amazing service.
The restaurant is beautiful and has a great layout.
In addition, The Chimes has a really nice outdoor space as well. If you are dining with kids this is the place to be. Really well done. The restaurant was busy from the time we arrived until we left. This restaurant will do well in Lafayette. No doubt.
The Chimes Lafayette is located at 1400 Camellia Blvd., Lafayette, LA 70508.
