Homemade Tartar Sauce

Fish Friday is something we have very often. Growing up in Louisiana we ate Fish on Friday every week.  When we eat fried fish tartar sauce is a must have condiment.  We didn’t have any bottled tartar sauce left from the last time we cooked fried fish. So I decided to make my own with the ingredients I had on hand.

I have a few versions of tartar sauce. This is my easiest one.

Jalapeno Chili Cornbread

Most families are officially back at school. For most families this is a very busy time. Busy season can make meal planning hard for some families. Sometimes finding shortcuts makes for easy meal planning and creating meals that are still homecooked. Blue Runner has been around for years. My husband and I both grew up eating Blue Runner beans.

Blue Runner was known back then more for their delicious beans. Blue Runner is known for much more now with their Meal Bases. Now offering options like Shrimp Creole base, Jambalya Base, Crab & Brie Bisque and Homestyle Chili Starter.

I am using the Homestyle Chili starter in today’s recipe.

The Homestyle Chili Starter is hearty, tasty and easy to prepare. The Homestyle Chili Starter taste like you’ve been cooking this chili all day. Packed with tons of flavor. All you do is add your onions, bell pepeprs and ground beef.

Oxtails with Marukan Vinegar

A new collaboration means a new recipe. Marukan Vinegar is “rice vinegar that plays an important role by adding bright, tangy notes, adding flavor to any dish, enhancing flavors of other ingredients as well as balancing sweet, salty, fatty and acidic components of a recipe”. Oxtails is a dish we grew up eating. It’s still one of the most requested dishes in our house with my family. Oxtails can be fatty, so I decided to marinate the oxtails in the Marukan Vinegar that has no sodium or sugar. As well as marinate veggies to top the dish with.

One of my favorite things about being a Blogger/Content Creator is attending Media events. Now let me say not all Media events are created equally, but there are some that are amazing, over the top, informative and creative. Oven Baked Ribs

I love bbq ribs. Ribs are one of the things we grill or cook on our smoker. But typically this is done on the weekend. I was craving ribs a few days ago but I didn’t have time to cook any outside so I resorted to the oven to bake my ribs. Simple and easy way to cook fall off the bones ribs. I served the ribs with French fries, side salad and a roll.

Crispy Chicken Bowls

I love getting my kids involved when I’m preparing meals or planning my menus.

I was talking with them about this dish that I wanted to create. My Crispy Chicken bowl is a playoff of the popular KFC Famous chicken bowl.

My teenager loves spicy chips. She had a bag of funyuns and wanted to make spicy chicken nuggets instead of the regular crispy chicken. I was like cool deal, let’s try it.

The Flats

Visiting Louisiana is always so refreshing for us. The people, the culture is so fun! We miss the friendliness of Louisiana people. Just meeting someone at random and having a big conversation like we’ve been knowing them for years.
There is no place like home. During our last visit we stopped in at a brand new restaurant called The Flats. I stumbled on this restaurant on Instagram. I saved this spot and made sure we had time to stop in for a quick lunch.
